Has to be Raspberry Beret, so quintessentially Prince. Who else would make a video like this? I just want to be there in all the colours. They look like they're having so much fun! I love the extended version of this song too, with his coughing and horse noises and the 'frantic' percussion at the end of the track. I was blown away when I first saw this.

Me too. Always has been my #1. So different from Purple Rain - which was risky. I remember the change to his hair, clothes, etc. Love the cough, when the girl hands him the guitar with adoration in her eyes, Wendy, his eyes - the whole thing screams Prince and I love it.

Aw hell, the entire video vault he's done.

Even that "Starfish and Coffe" thing where's he's dancing with the Muppett. I love it all!

I don't know...I'm quite fond of When Doves Cry and the whole 1999 set.

Although, off 2 the side, I'm curious about who the chick is in the "Gold" video...hmmm

HE'S COMING AGAIN

just show the "Little Red Corvette" video for the first time in what feels like ages. But whenever that's on VH1 Classic, I never hesitate to drop everything I'm doing just to watch it...
When they do the "Rockin' Road Songs" countdown, I still turn on the TV whenever it comes on (#6).

Not the best all-around video... but just for nostaglic value. The first video I played b4 coming to this place cool
and it still thrills me. Seeing it the first time brought me back to see the last 10 minutes of PR the first time all those years ago.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

The first time I ever saw Prince was Controversy and I can still remember the way that video made me feel when I was 12 years old, all excited and nervous, it really effected me. I had never heard such pure funk before that.

KISS is however, is masterpeive, his OPUS, he was in top form when doing that, and he looked as cool and as funky as anyone can ever be. Perfection..

Some other vids Ive always loved (everything from Lovesexy, particularly Aphabet St, I wish U heaven.. they are soo..... Lovesexy??).

I love Partyman, so ambitous and playful.

I love the Gett off videos too, you cant beat seeing Prince in his swimsuit!! hahaha!

There's another funny one - I wanna melt with you, soft porn, which really had me steaming when I was 20 years old.. at that time I was looking for any type of porn possible and Prince knew what I wanted cool

He looks so cool and confident in it. That one's classic Prince badassness.

Partyman (very fun and a sharp purple suit), U got the Look (THAT white fluffy jacket, amazingly hot!) and Dirty Mind (hands in the pocket, jumping from side-to-side dance at the start) are my favourites!
Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?

I dont consider Prince a great video-maker, many of his video's show lack of budget, or offer too much clichés, but he has at least made a handfull of classic video's.

My favourite ones:

When doves cry: very 'eighties' in retrospect, but the mix of film-images and studio sequences with the revolution somehow 'works'.

Raspberry Beret: colourfull, playfull retro-psychedelica that really suits the sound and arrangement of the song.

Kiss: iconic in its simplicity, a strong mix of nice choreography and playfull humor.

Girls and Boys: the black-and-white images, the french party-atmosphere, the costumes the people are wearing, combined with some quirky, offbeat Princian humor work splendidly.

Sign of the Times: might look boring and dated nowadays, but in 1987 that was a revolutionary video in terms of the format: focussing purely on the lyrics to emphasise the words of the song.

I could never take the place of your man: shows were Prince is often at his best, at the stage, performing live. The arrangement is so much better then that of the album version, and the energy and joy is clearly visible and audible.

Batdance / Partyman: both video's are obviously produced with a suitable budget, and the mixture of cartoon-like personages and (dark) humor really suits the songs and lyrics.

Get Off: so obviously 'over the top' when it comes to the use of caligula-like images, that its obviously Prince is putting his tongue firmly in his cheek while he is fooling around with his orgy-fantasies.

Let's Go Crazy, but that's kind of a ringer, since it's more of a movie clip than a video.
