Interesting... if you don't care why comment on a Prince fan site, quite pointless thing to do really eh!

funky 02 on 21st night! life changing experience 4 myself..
the atmostphere was electric. the crowd was mental from the minute the stage lit up. dancing & singing 4 what seemed like an eternity.

purple rain, glow sticks! cool purple & golden heart confetti...

no band & prince alone at the keyboard. lots of old skool...
televised by sky 2 the world! & of course the recent footage on 3121 was from 21st night!
the twins used an aerosol or something 2 write 21 on the back of his beautiful (but probably very sweaty) white suit eek

he gave it everything that night. couldn't keep him off the stage! i think there were 3 encores. at one point, the lights went up, announcing tube & rail etc. people were going nowhere..! 10mins later he was back heart

i'm totally gutted i didn't take up the aftershow tickets...

btw, lovely positive thread x biggrin

Stand alone moment for me was 4th August, first ever concert for me, and it was the purple one himself. Thought he was simply incredible and was such a weird moment for me to realise that 'wow, that's actually Prince just a couple of feet away'. One of the best parts of the show was during the jamming session. He was playing a guitar solo to one side of the arena and then said something like 'Want me to play again? I can't get to you.' He looked in my direction 'But I can get to you!' the section I was in went nuts as he walked towards us and rocked it with the guitar. Genius. Other great moments? Planet Earth, Superbowl Performance, F.U.N.K., seeing Nikka Costa rock it for the 1st ever time I saw her. Yep it's been a very good year. biggrin

Thanks for the thread...

7/7/07 was awesome... however could not go to 1st Ave for the concert mad
but it was fun....

Why couldnt you make it to 1st ave?

Long story... although was at 1st Ave the night before missed getting a ticket.
The next day the sun was blazing hot and could not be in two places at the same time so I chose to go to Macy's and miss 1st Ave... Sure wish I was there though... I am glad you had fun cool

discovering his music (end of 06) and then everything that has happened this year

sitting up till some unearthly hour to watch the superbowl performance,

seeing him at Koko for the first ever time and the madness around getting the tickets for it (me at one end with a credit card my mate on ticketmaster with the tickets thanks goodness ticketmaster saves your details lmao)

the new album which i think is great no matter how many people keep commenting on it not being that good

21 Nights in London all the mainshows and aftershows i went to see

the final aftershow gets a seperate mention cos of the fact at 7pm i was still in switzerland having left my uni field course at 2pm going back to the hotel packing (leaving numerous things behind) getting to my train with literally 2mins to spare arriving back in london at about 8pm and getting to the O2 to find my lil sis had been queing for me (she is the best lil sis in the world lol) and being front row for an amazing aftershow and it going on till about 4.20am then Prince coming over to the gate after the show

over all it was an amazing year biggrin

I'd say for me the three shows on 7/7 was the best moment in 2007. It was very exciting and his shows were incredible..the energy and excitment that day was felt everywhere downtown...it felt great to be apart of it. Expecially the Target Center show just blew me away! biggrin

I do remember alot of fans concerned about the timing of everything and someone from the staff mentioned they were stalling the Macy's show to give folks enough time to get from the 1st Ave ticket line to Macy's, well he said he'd be back!

It has been a pretty awesome year to become a supporter of Prince. I got to see/hear about all of these amazing events. I'm not sure if I could rank them in order or anything. But I can say what the most amazing moments have been.

1. SuperBowl HalfTime show
* "Purple Rain"= enough said (got me here, didn't it?)

2. NAACP acceptance speech
* Prince has been snubbed at awards before (Grammys rolleyes ), so I had no idea he was going to win in the first place
* He actually had a speech prepared and it was history in the making (= the first verse of an awesome new song, Planet Earth)

3. 7/7/07
* Could it be a coincidence that on the same day I expanded my album collection from 8 to 12 on a major shopping spree where I finally couldn't resist spending all I had... that same night, Prince was touring Minneapolis, doing show and show... just like he did during the Lovesexy tour [got this from "Prince at Paisley Park"]
* An occasion that proved that he still can do multiple shows in a night w/o breaking a sweat... aka: "He's still got it goin' on"

4. PFunk
* In light of the negativity here, he writes/records a song overnight in response to the skeptics/haters/ex-fans that is arguably one of the best songs he's written in a LONG time (according to some anyways)
*The story behind its creation is reminiscent of "When Doves Cry"... song written overnight and becomes a huge hit (for most, anyways)

Those were some moments that blew me away and I got a frontrow seat to them.

Who says late bloomers missed out on ALL the fun/funk? cool

* He actually had a speech prepared and it was history in the making (= the first verse of an awesome new song, Planet Earth)

Word? I did not know that. cool

Its been a fun and interesting year for Prince fans worldwide to say the least! Although the year isn't over yet there are some notable mentions I'd like to list as my top favorite Prince moments of 2007! List your top FAVORITE Prince moments here too!

In no particular order.....

1. Superbowl Performance - absolutely amazing! bow worship

2. Superbowl Press Conference when Prince walked in, went up to the mic, said something like "contrary to rumor I will be accepting a few questions". Places his hand by his ear to take the first question, the second the reporter starts to ask the 1st question, Prince drops his hand and signals the band to play and they start the first song falloff falloff falloff what a Classic dis moment if I ever saw one!!!!

3. Alma Awards - Prince and Sheila performing at an Awards show together again and walking off the stage holding hands together - touched

4. 7.7.7 - the whole day! 3 shows in one day, what a treat! err

5. 7.7.7 - Target Center - Sheila and Prince in matching Purple outfits

6. 7.7.7 - Target Center - Prince having a James Brown feel good moment - I used to watch footage of the young women screaming over the Jackson 5 fro fro fro fro fro and the Beatles thinking, whats the big deal they are only dancing, until this very Prince moment, I thought those women were silly until I felt the same way... what a sexy motha-shutyomouth!!!!! excited

7. 7.7.7 - First Avenue - Prince's entrance onto the stage - The Twinz waiving those fans - P walking in like a pimp, Classic!!!!! clapping

8. 7.7.7 - First Avenue - The look on Cora's face when Prince said "We gonna be here to the morning!" Priceless! At 1am, She had to be pooped and realized she had at least another 2 hours to go! She rocked it out big time!

9. 7.7.7 - First Avenue - The look on Sheila's face when the authorities were standing right beside her trying to shut the show down. She glanced at P who signaled the Band to play yet another song - you could see the internal dilemma of her not knowing whether to listen to the authorities standing right beside her or her boss - she went with Prince of course!

10. 7.7.7 - First Avenue - Prince, Sheila, Wendy on the same stage again at First Ave

11. 7.7.7 - First Avenue- When the authorities shut the show down - Prince making the promise he would indeed be back - he looked touched by the outpour of love and suppport he receive that day and wasnt ready to leave - guitar forever!!!

12. Chelsea Rodgers Video - Associated Artists Moment - The Twinz killing that runway walk and Shelby's presence proves what a star she is!!!!!

13. Release of PFUnk headbang - nuff said

14. S.H.O.E. sneak peak leak - love

15. Minnesota Hall of Fame - no show - for being the last state to play his music from the beginning- what did they expect? bigger question, why did it take so long? Good move on Prince's part whatever the reason for the no show was!

16. Prince performs with Stevie Wonder at MSG - Superstition

I know there are more.....post it here!!

Okay, so there's another thread...I thought I was going nuts... lol

Best Prince experience of 2007...

1. Being in the Superbowl halftime show because including rehearsals, I got to see the whole show, effects and all 4 times in total.

2. Minneapolis on 7-7-7. Three shows in one day including a mind blowing aftershow...Prince was HOT that night.

I can't decide which was best...
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

The Superbowl, was really seeing Prince at his height...I adored the experience for him, and as a spectator, in front of the television. It was truly an eventful feeling that night.
Knowing, how many people were near, gathering, on behalf of our friendly Prince, on stage.

Its amazing how many new fans were found after this performance. It was a truly magical amazing performance, and the "purple rain" coming down at the right moment topped it off.
