Prince's relationship with his online fans.

You would think that with the amount of hardcore fans Prince has online, he would take advantage of the situation and have good relations -- a kind word to say every now and then, great releases, live concerts. But the opposite is true -- he's treated us like he's treated everyone he's ever worked with -- like garbage.

Why is it so hard for him to treat us well and allow us to buy his live concerts, music, and such? Why wouldn't he turn a blind eye to trading, posting photos, us having our own opinions... instead of turning Web Sheriff and lawyers on us?

Doesn't it seem really, really stupid on this part?

Why do you think his online relationship with his fans has been so, so rocky since 1996? Whose fault is it, how did it start, and where does it go from here?

Why are you still obsessing over this? He's not gonna change his mind, we may never know why but at this point you've gotta move on. confused

Who is obsessing over anything? It's a simple statement and question.

it always pays to be nice to people. Even when you don't want to be...

I've had sooooo many people thank me for random act of kindness, I've offered, but to receive the same courtesy in public????? (((((shakin my head at the thought)))))

I think Prince wants things to be like they were back in the day before the internet was around. I just asked that because it seems like your last few threads are about this.

I know it 's never gonna happen that's why I wonder why people keep asking about it! I've been a Prince fan since the early 80's and i can't remember Prince changing his mind once he's set on something.

Well, actually artists don't need an online or personal relationship with fans. An artist's relationship with his/her fans is in the words of their music, and there's plenty of music out there for you to enjoy...and that's just about where the relationship begins and ends.

I think Prince is proof if you shit on people they will come back for more again and again. You can shit all over the fan base but they will be the ones ready to work out a deal so everyones happy? Will that mean it won't happen again?

My advice to Prince, don't change a thing, keep shitting on the fan base and they will be back for more. Even if you don't come thru with what was advertised (NPG Music Club). As long as the dated Greatest Hits live show from 1989 is around, people will fill arenas to see it.

IMO, the shitting on fans part just validates that people will take the shit because his skills are ten times most performers live. Shitting on others validates that he is the greatest ever.

As long as Prince knows He has some love...even at a distance, it's like knowing you have a Pink Cashmere Coat in the closet, although it's too warm to wear.

Hopefully, being near, is spiritually comforting. And not smothersome.

Its always the same minority of people with the same gripe, isn't it?

I reckon there should be a new section for the forums, something like "Fans: People that for unfathomable reasons feel personally affronted by a musician".

Its how it all started with Mark David Chapman, you know? confused

I think he has made it clear by now that he doesn't need this.

Keeping it rocky keeps it exciting. Just like realm expressed so well: we are coming back for more.

Ahh, is that a joke about the Larry G. and Sly fiasco?

The people that gripe about the crystal ball fiasco, after shows becoming party, advertized npgmc cds, dried up magazine are the people that participate and are only voicing discontent because they have love for P and just wanna see things go good when things go down again.

Oh for goodness sake Gem, lighten up! Or perhaps that was too close for comfort, eh?

And I'm surprised, particularly as a mod, that you feel the org "embraces all opinions" - that seems far from the truth when you read half the reactions around here. Your response is a case in point.
