What I don't understand is, if you think he's slipping and a sellout and "fans" like you aren't going to take it anymore....then why are you still here? As a matter of fact I like this place a hell of a lot MORE this week than i did last week, because i think that a lot more people that didn't think like i do about Prince now are starting to see the light. You're missing the ENTIRE POINT of the debate. I'm here because this place has a RIGHT TO EXIST. I'm here because there should be a place where people that have been Prince fans for years and maybe don't like where he is right now, can talk about the old days and reminisce and if they want to bitch about the new days. I didn't spend ANY money on Planet Earth (actually i didn't buy Musicology or 3121 either, i got promos). Prince won't ever get a dime from me, unless he changes course on this little war of censorship that he's decided to wage. I'm here because this place is here, and the world is a little better for it being here. Answer your question? No...YOU missed my point. You can claim that you are here on the org because you like it...but the FACT of the matter is...you were and STILL are a Prince FAN, THAT is why you are still here. I find this whole situation laughable as u guys foam at the mouth attacking the person u claim to love so dearly. So who's the hypocrites? U guys must remember that Prince is the Sun and if u get to close to it it will burn.
After all these years U still don't understand who Prince is. He is a contrary MF and its his way or the highway. If the ride is too hot for for u GETT OFF! Maybe at some point Prince will have just 10 fans sitting in an apartment as he plays for them on an acoutic guitar. And that will be fine because the MF did it his way. He didn't kiss Warner Brother ass and he's not going to Kiss u guys asses either. Would he even be Prince then? He don't owe u a gotdamn thing so stop all this ying yang about how many shows u been too and how many albums u bought. He's not your SLAVE. Why is it oh so difficult for some people on here to understand that some of us are fans of, and love Prince's MUSIC, not Prince the person? Some of us are on here not because we want to try and find out who he's sleeping with, what colour underwear he's got on today or to discuss whatever stupid, obsessive and downright creepy topic about the guys personal life, but rather we're here to find out when his next appearance is or newest track will be out. It's downright scary that some people on here think that simply some dude that makes great music can do nothing else wrong, NOTHING wrong. I agree with you 100%. It's always been about the music and the live shows for me. As a gay man I DO NOT find him attractive (he's too pretty and small and girlie). I'm gay! I like men! Not Camille types. So the images and videos and the pics on Housequake was something I never looked at. And I could really care less about what he's doing as a "celebrity." It's really simple for me. If he wants my money then he should respect me. There are tons of more artists that I love, some of who I've met, that are truly aware and respectful of their fans. He's been doing me wrong, since he took my $50 bucks for the Crystal Ball disc set, and I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE IT. I eventually bought it from the used bins at Amoeba. What about my lifetime membership for the npgmusic website or whatever it was called...I was cool with all that. Chalked it up to lazy employees at Paisley Park. But his request to monitor what is said about him is absurd...back to my 5Oth listen to the new Meshell... Prince is not the end-all, be-all in the soundtrack of my life. And I've been a fan since 1984. Some people are really easy to please. And have short attention spans. I think these folks would have abandoned the American Revolution for a chili dog. Nice song. But I'm not falling for the fake-out. The okie-doke. The decoy. The 'hey loook over there ...it's clever music." We already know he's a brilliant musician. There are still major issues at stake. Prince cannot keep trying to ram fans up the ass and suppressing basic rights with threats of litigation. He has no respect. . . . [Edited 11/8/07 17:49pm] Couldn't have said it better myself.

The song is funky as hell though, better than most everything on PE and 3121. Can anyone post the lyrics? Its hard to decipher exactly what he is saying sometimes on this song. And whats the Weave-alicious referance too? Was it something one of the people here said?? Interesting..... That's what he said?!?! Anxiety said: i don't feel like the words in the song have effectively "put us in our place", answered any questions, or shed any insight into what's going on. it reminds me of a muhammad ali novelty single from the 70s - funky, catchy, but nothing but a bunch of empty bravado and hubris. i think the song itself is harmless. he's thumbing his nose at us, and being silly. i think it's entertaining. i hope it's a sign of confidence that he actually DOES know what he's doing and that some kind of successful closure is on the way. but maybe not. we all know the man is snack cake short of a full box of ho-hos.
I have mixed feelings about this. Interesting how he can pull a good song out of seemingly nowhere..and one that provides elements that the fans really want. And I find the answer in the song too easy. I'd rather see an answer in a different form that acknowledges and explains how he feels. Christian Zombie Vampires

Well, I guess I'm in the minority here...I don't really care about this feud with fan websites. I've got all the Prince songs and videos I've ever wanted. I mostly want to here about new albums and concert updates.
I got over being so into Prince's personal life and his personality a long time ago. If he wants to be a jerk, he can go right on ahead. He has to answer for his own actions in life. All I care about is when he's going to tour the US again, and I don't mean expensive, out of the way, small venues. And I liked the song.

the good that cometh from conflict.
So he's making trouble again and getting everybody up in arms! How people can get so beside themselves about about these little things is beyond comprehension. He's making trouble. So what? Whatever tocks his ticker, or keeps him inspired is cool with me. Ultimately he's an entertainer doing his job. I really like planet earth. Cut a fella' some slack willya?!!! peace. small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

It's amazing to see how many of you are brainwashed by this little tiny ego maniac who can't handle his fame and allow his TRUE FANS to discuss him and share photos. It actually disturbs me! Look, I love his music as well but come on people. What he's doing is WRONG. So what's going to happen is he's still going to laugh at us....all the way to the bank. Time to stop thinking he's god. I absolutly agree with this post. and a few others that aren't buying the "oh look a new songs out...let's not forget about the music". I appreciate that during times of frustration he gets creative and comes out with a great song. But I'm seeing all of the OMG I love thigs song GAGA BS all over the place. Take a look at what he's really done... Taken the likeness and name from PFU in a direct manner that mirrors whats going on with the copyright infringement. He then makes a song from it in which the lyrics seem to be a response to what's going on as opposed to coming out with a statement or some sort of explaination for what's really going on. And the song practically spits in the eyes of the last 3 albums. It's certainly a very bold statement. And it seems like a nice gesture. But he needs to make amends. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'm more amazed by the level of anger he's elicited from a fan base that's almost as old as he is. I'd expect this backlash from, say, a Justin Timberlake site, but damn...it's all about the funk when it's all said and done, and that's what I hear when I listen to PFUnk. and, well, it might not be the Grand Progression, but it sho is fonky!
