Prince 1999 25?

Michael Jackson has Thriller 25 coming out soon and it just occurred to me, shit, 1999 is hitting that anniversary too! excited

So, why isn't 1999 remastered? confuse With bonus tracks? confuse And a DVD? confuse And awesome packaging? hmm

I guess we're "lucky" that we even have a version with "D.M.S.R." on it? neutral confused

Yeah and Thriller came out in December 1982, Thriller 25 drops February 2008 - that wasn't my point either.

yeah, CDs couldn't hold as many minutes of music in the 80s so "D.M.S.R." was removed when it was first issued. you'll see it like that at used music stores.

A 25th Anniversary edition with the remastered album on one disc and another disc of unreleased tracks from that era would be really great. Prince will never do it though. Too bad Warner Bros. doesn't own his unreased tracks. Maybe they could release them just to piss him off. lol

Yeah... the copy I found at FYE on 7/7/07, brand new, has DMSR.

and I don't even like the song.
Call me an uncaring wretch.
But that's just how it is.

haha... it'd save me skipping time if my copy didn't have that song on it at all. And I actually got a few other versions of it floating around my harddrive.

Prince should re-release it with outtakes from that album and or year, all polished and clear.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Even U2 finally released the remastered The Joshua Tree in 3 editions! eek

"...remastering hah! directed by The Edge..." smile

I can imagine how the Prince remasters would sound like with such a direction... "Remastering directed, remixed, rearranged and re-cleaned by the most high - Jehova." falloff

Okay, that wasn't funny. neutral

My dream re-release (trying to be somewhat realistic):

1999: 25th Anniversary Edition [Warner Bros/NPG]

CD1: The complete album, remastered and uncensored (keep your hands off it Prince! lol)

CD2: Bonus tracks and more
-Irresistible Bitch
-How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?
-Horny Toad
-Little Red Corvette (Dance Mix)
-1999 (The New Master)
-Moonbeam Levels*
-Delirious (Extended Version)*
-Plus video files for all the promo videos and a live excerpt!

*previously unreleased

- Extensive liner notes by someone close to Prince at the time (Dez, Wendy & Lisa, Bobby Z), with a catchy title like "Party At The Apocolypse" lol

- Original Artwork, complete with the pics from the inner sleave of the original LP.

- Only make 199,999 copies of the thing, with each one assigned a production number to give it some real value!

- A re-release of What Time Is It? and Vanity 6 (also remastered) to coincide with the release.

pray
