I just watched the video without the audio. It looks really good. It's even more intriguing because you feel there's a story going on and you want to know what it is. 3/4 of the way thru, even silent, it loses you because it's hard to follow. Still, I think if this thing is recut (just minor things) it could be really really good.

Te Amo Cortozone and Black Sweater were better. But hey, Prince doesn't have that many good videos.

No to all of the above. Actually - Prince asked Matthew if he could be at his show. Yep. Here it is from someone who is extremely close to the horse's mouth: "Sunday night we get a call from his people saying he wants to come. Turns out his new muse, Chelsea, is a big fan of Matthew's and wants to be at his show. We're delighted, and clear the front row. next day we get a call - Prince would actually like to PLAY at the show. At this point we're dying with excitement, and re-organise everything accordingly. Tuesday night Matthew goes to the couture dinner at the V and A, spots Prince and goes over to introduce himself. "Hi," he says, "I hear you're playing at my show tomorrow?" Prince looks him up and down. "Maybe" he says, and struts off. Matthew panics, calls everyone at midnight - they all panic. We didn't actually know if it was going to happen until he turned up on the day. And we didn't even think he was going to sing - especially when he sat down on the front row."

As we know it all ended happily ever after - for Prince too. So successful was the hair-raising performance that the Little Oh-So-Sexy One is going to use the footage in his next video. Frock-tastic.

I had to share this because it's kind of funny. I saw a friend on Instant Messenger and sent him the video link. He watched it and wrote back: Who's Chelsea?
I asked who do you think? He replied:

"It's Prince.
Prince is Chelsea.
Is that what this is about?
Prince is Chelsea?"

He called to finish the convo, it was very funny.
Hes a musician and likes the song. He said the video looks good too, but he wasn't sure what was going on. He liked the line "a model used to be a role model" and he's convinced that Prince is Chelsea. His final thoughts were that it's a video about Prince as a model. I'm sure that would change if he listened closely but it was still funny.

of course she's made up - after all rodgers is spelled the same way as his formal last name (not to mention he has a long long line of made up female characters in his tunes)...

how come no ones' mentioned it's obvious the video was fillmed whilst he was at
matthew williamson's runway show a month back? scroll down in the news... there's an article about it (plus you can see matthew in the video)...

and as to the fact that chelsea doesn't look like the rest of the models, clearly she's an actress put in the show with the actual runway models... it's rare that runway models would smile/laugh whilst walking down the catwalk - it's supposed to be about the clothes, not their faces

It's an alright video, but it doesn't match the energy of the song. Not even close. The band on stage was trying, but overall, the scene is a little boring for such a funky track. And Prince in all black looks like he should be ushering me into the afterlife.

Is this video going to premiere and be played on MTV, VH1, and BET? It would be nice to see this video get some spins on some traditional video outlets and at least have it played on rotation for a couple of weeks.
