well, I don't have a name for it yet. But it's not good. It's even too weird to be funny. The band and everyone on stage is completely cool. The video looks like HDV and is shot well. Chelsea: After this video, I'm less interested and it's supposed to be about her. She's supposed to have the charisma of a muse...the one that inspired this song...but this video brings none of that out. She's cute but that's it. It looks like the story of a girl getting ready for prom. & Why is she in the audience!? Just sitting. Why isn't the camera following her. Why isn't some story being told? Prince looks good but I don't like his place in this story either. It would have been better if he were more laid back in the audience...not performing. It makes his getting up on the runway less climactic... The coolest shots in the entire video are those brief shots of the designer. Prince should have been presented with that kind of mystique... What would have saved this video is a stronger Chelsea Rodgers and the absence of the Twins...the band has enough energy of it's own. Too bad because there's enough stuff there to make a good video, but it won't be recut. I have to agree with some of the things said above, the video does not really go with the song. Sorry! I think they should have focussed more on Chelsea and her lifestyle and the reason why she was an inspiration for this song and had a couple of clips of the fashion show (not shoot the whole song at the show, how boring is that?  ) Prince is so creative, what happened here?
Also am a bit puzzled with the Chelsearodgers.com website. What is it and who is she? Still don't get it. | |

The footage was Ok but he nees to take some reminders from the Come On promo on how to make a great video in London by combining real footage of him interacting with everyday people as well as performance footage .If he doesnt look like hes having fun with the song it means its less engaging to watch , and his outfit might look good in other situations but its too funereal for a lively song like Chelsea . Prior to the vid, there were a just few photographs on the chelsearodgers.com website. They showed Chelsea, Shelby and another woman getting out of a car then posing in some city street. The colour theme was silver and electric blue, with a dazzling blue sky. I thought that was really vibrant and I was expecting something more along those pictures. But I guess this video is alright. Chelsea looks amazing. And I still love the song!  As far as the models expressionless faces. That works. That's what models do. Chelsea should have followed suit while on the runway...it works with the line: "kept her tears up in a bottle" and could work in the storyline, as well. If they had one. I watched it again. This time I had to laugh. How many times do the Twins walk back and forth? It's really not their fault that they're so annoying, but that back and forth thing, throws the flow or the entire thing off. Anon seems like you have read my mind... | |

this is how the video should play...
1) edit out the faux Chelsea Rodgers...she doesn't look like a model, she lacks excitement and actually looks nervous...those crazy black and white photos of her cheapen the video. 2) make this a story about the real models...edit in more scenes of the real models walking the runway. 3) make the story about prince being invited to a fashion show and halfway through taking over the place and blowing the crowd with his awesomeness. he sits there in the chair watching the show and digging it and then halfway through he jumps up on stage and takes over the thing. 3) less twins...especially remove the dorky moment they cock their head and give the cheesiest smile in unison. horrid!! straight horrid!!
in fact, i think all the footage we need to make this a kick arse video exists in this current version...anyone crazy enough to fine tune this beast and willing to risk the wrath of websheriff? Space for sale... | |

I think this is almost Prince's worst video ever -- even worse than those cheapo in house Paisley Park videos from the mid 90s where they just added fake sand and water to the same set... this band is just so atrocious... it's like the bizarro NPG. Get rid of Shelby and Marva, focus more on the real musicians like Renato. Get a decent drummer. And make some real rock and roll for once. Prince looks old and tired.
