I can't believe the same guy who made music from ATWIAD, Parade, Dream Factory, and SOTT would waste time making this meaningless music. When you have a gift you should use it. Unfortunately, it seems Prince just likes money and to get laid.
So you know who that girl is. Is Valente=Fuentes or who is she??

There you have two words that just dont match succesfully: 'Prince' and 'R&B'. I must admit i am quite of affraid to go to 3121.com, because Prince doing what so called hip, cool, modern, superficial people call 'R&B' has never result into something worthfull, just generic, boring, uninspired drab... ----- So you said you "RnB God". Please continue to comment on Rock n Roll and leave the RnB to those us who actually like it.

The track starts promisingly but I almost immediately lost interest in the vocals and the extraordinarily dull arrangement.

- Me too. Nice bass, but I am tired of these R&B singers... I hope he records something more organic with Amy Winehouse.

I remember when 1999 came out in 82 I heard the same criticisms from all the punk, new wave, hard and classic rock posers. They always attach some kind of stigma to black music (whether it's termed Urban, R&B, Disco, Dance, etc.) They idealize only black artists pre-1970, Bob Marley and anything that fits their fake notion of what "classic" music is. They abhor rhythm, experimentation, funk until their bands are stealing it (David Bowie, Van Morrison, Rolling Stones, Clash, etc.) They soon get on the bandwagon after their music becomes irrelevant and repeats decades of black music. Prince moves beyond this and is able to appreciate the "soul" in all types of music. He's a true polymath and musical eclectic.

True, I noticed he gets a lot of criticism here when he pushes a singer who performs R&B or when he does an R&B track. It's obvious R&B is just one of the many forms of his music styles that he likes, i.e, Adore, Shh, Insatiable, Satisfied, On the Couch, Black Sweat, How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore, just to name a few, and he's done a very good job with that form of music so far. As far as Amy, her style seems pretty much classic R&B(pre-1980s) motown sound - you can definitely hear her copy the styles of Diana Ross and the Supremes/Smokey Robinson/Marvin Gaye, all the way.. Bria Valente (aka Brenda Fuentes aka Bria Fuentes) has been mentioned here before. She sang back up on Song of the Heart and there has been a lot of speculation for at least 10-11 months that she is his "girlfriend" (whatever that means in Prince world ).
Check this thread to find out more and see some pics. (Jseven posts the truth...) . [Edited 10/13/07 19:19pm]

She has a nice voice. I like the song.

Her voice can't handle this type of music. It's a nice song, but she should be doing pop music, or something similar.
and, hey, if this lady gets a record, Shelby deserves 3, cuz she can sang better than her.

That's what I am wondering....lol...most likely...It does sound very much like her (compared to the 2 tracks bria has on thr unsigned compilation) She sounds very popish on those 2 tracks. But she sounds like is is trying to be R&B on this song.. though not successfully sadly. Very unauthentic..my guess is that it is that Bria. anyway very ho hum song if you ask me...the lyrics suck, her voice is mediocre.. but the music is nice... I have listened to this song several times and I do not hear Prince in it as some of you have said. It is all Bria dubbed over herself. I think she has talent...even if most of you think she does not have talent...I would love to be one of Price talentless women any day and have you all getting my name out there regardless $$$$$. I can't wait to see who will be the jam of the week this week.

Sounds like the more R&B tracks on his recent albums. Not my thing really.
Some nice bits/guitar but I'd like to hear more interesting production. He does these type tracks in his sleep.
