So what? Plenty of artists copy other musicians, it's part of the business. And I'm sure that Prince didn't do it intentionally.

Isn't "She Got It" an unreleased outtake? How could Prince copy something unreleased, if he hadn't heard it?

First the U2 rift-lift, and now THIS.

I've been a big U2 fan for 13 years now and I've seen them 11 times. When listening to PE I didn't notice any similarity between those tracks at all.

I read about it on here and still I didn't see the similarity. I still don't see any similarity. They are not the same at all IMO

Actually, I still stand by the U2 riff. Simply play the track "I Will Follow" and "Guitar" together. Its very close to the same...extremely close.

Even Rolling Stone admitted it. But this isn't what the thread is about. =D

Guitar might be influenced by I will follow, it would be logical cause Prince often has had stated his like for u2

it sounds like princes playing matter of factly...

Now if i recall Prince presumably sent MJ alot of demos... back in the day...

Its simply illogical that prince would steal the song because the song isnt that strong...
which is why MJ rejected it from the track list...
I have a sneaking suspician this might be one of the many demos Prince sent MJ
its more logical that way because prince is known for taking material from his archives and redoing them
Musicology is good example of that because alot of people have said that on that paticular album that certain songs sound like parts of other bootlegged Prince songs taht have never been released...

What on earth are you talking about??!!! eek

You start by saying this is a generally available sample and that you have it!! I seriously doubt that - fancy sending it to me?

But then you say, "upon further anylization(sic)" they sound exactly the same (er, wasn't that what you already said, cos its a sample?), and "too alike" - what do you mean?

Finally, this whole demo thesis - not only am I not aware of Prince sending loads of demos "back in the day" to MJ, but you then reiterate that its "too alike" and then say that its different ("coma is more precise" - no, it isn't, it is EXACTLY the same) - well, which is it? You can't say all along that its a sample you have, they're exact, then imply its down to a demo Prince sent MJ in 91 and then reworked it for Musicology in 2003. For a start, the quality of this supposed sample would sound very 1991 instead of standing out like a sore thumb because of its more recent production, as it does.

For the VERY last time - some doofus at doodoofan has taken 30 seconds of ICPC and pasted it on to the end of a 1991 MJ outtake, for reasons not yet known. Seeing as their seems to be an enormous problem with people even understanding the basic premise of the situation here, I doubt we'll ever get close to a rational explanation! rolleyes

Its NOT a sample - its NOT copying by either artist, its NOT a demo, its some idiot playing with a .wav file razz

"Life Of The Party" was the title of a song on the "Dancing Machine" CD.

Prince went after MJ's sloppy seconds dating that "The Way You Make Me Feel" lady and recording with Sheryl Crow.

MJ uh, married Elvis' daughter. Prince dated Marvin's daughter.

In the latest MJ bio it quotes MJ as calling Prince a "copycat".

But MJ ended up with a Prince-ish complexion and a Luxsexy/Graffiti wig so it all balances out.

And yet again, thank you very much Mindflux. For the LAST time as well, I am NOT claiming Prince copied MJ ---and--- ..I am not a rabid fan of his either. Okay??! As I've already said, this is a joke, with a serious undertone which goes something like this---- Why the hell did this happen? What was the motivation for such a random, COMPLETELY strange act? In other words, what was the point?

Seems like we shall never know..

but I do. I'm also trying to comprehend its relevance. Similarities (or maybe even corrupt copyright) seem to be pretty frequent. I'm just saying that outing something that might of been purly influence/conincedence doesn't make the track better or bring justice to either artist.
