Not suprising, you see what the cat does with all the money that we give him. He has some high powered attorneys but I don't think even P can get it all off the net, especially since people are so skittish about it now they don't share site names with each other from fear of being sued so he'll never find or know about all of them.

Sad, Sad, Sad , I honestly believe brotha doesn't know what he's up against.

shocked Wow, and these are fans? O yee of little faith. Just a week ago you all were showing pictures, talking about what it would be like to meet Prince, how much you love him, etc. This week, you're ready to tar and feather him in the town square--get real! mad

1. Websites sell ad space and get PAID. This allows those of you who spend time on the sites to see whatever you're looking to see. The websites don't pay any royalties to anyone, except of course the shareholders who own stock in the corporate entity.

2. I've seen You Tube a couple of times and frankly, the concept of putting stupid videos of oneself on a public site which is not regulated makes me think the participants lack self-esteem, have no life and do it only because SOMEHOW they truly believe they might get "discovered" and become famous like some of the other non-talented reality-tv idiots. YOU BEEN HOODWINKED, BAMBOOZELED! - Our Man prince deserves to be in better company!

3. Grow up! Prince and the Record Industries have a legal right and obligation to protect their intellectual property (the music, videos, photos). That's business and it's really not--all about the $$. However, You Tube IS making money off of you and you don't even realize it. dunce You support it! But when it comes to prince it is your belief that he should take the hit? (Of course this should be said for any artist.)

4. You say this should help Prince with marketing-- bull sh*t chatterbox watching the videos on You Tube is not and does not make anyone go out and buy anything--that's the whole point of putting them on the website, HELLO. Be honest, you're not going to go out (and haven't gone out) to purchase any video you've seen on the ANY website. People download whatever they can these days (remember the pictures) and use them for their own purposes.

5. There have been photos of Prince on various websites that, well, let's say he probably would like out of circulation--we've all laughed at them, but imagine if it was you! I can honestly say that there's at least one picture of me in the 80s that I wouldn't want circulated. (And, I'm sure there's at least one photo of you--at some point of your life--that you would make you cringe. martini tonk weed hamster ) Just because Prince is famous doesn't mean he has no rights! Let's just suppose that he does want to start a family and change up his style a bit--shouldn't he have the right to determine how he is portrayed in the public?

6. The music business is having some problems by its own admission--much like the movie industry went into a dive when DVDs were first released. This is a corporate battle, plain and simple. Like the stock market adjusts itself, the same is true in this instance.

7. I believe as another Orger suggested, eventually all of this will make sense to us. You may have gotten mad at Prince before, but he always comes back with a solution. We should support him in this. heart

clapping Thank You!!!!
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

prince feels that if he removes all images of himself as a real badass (81-89) he wont have any comp LOL.remember he haves only himself 2 compete with, the old footage reminds us that although he's aged well he cant fuck with the prime version of himself.

Yes I totally agree.

Also, would Prince have sold out 21 nights in London without the 'casual' fans being able to see the Youtube footage of his Super Bowl performance, etc. and realising that he is still amazing live and worth going to see in 2007?? I don't think so. The man is a fool. I have been a massive fan since the first album but this is starting to leave a very nasty taste in my mouth..... neutral

will only say this much. Thanks to the youtube i get to see things i would normally never see in the land of Oz. Even if i had pay tv, i would miss out on many a performance. The youtube lets me see (ofcourse in a grainy crappy resolution) what many ppl in america take for granted. I have my hi def telly, and would buy those vids just to see them in high def- youtube is mostly like a preview of what an artist has to offer. That's what i thought music videos were- a video, a promotional tool to get you in the shops to buy their goods on disc. Guess that is a wrong view to have. Many 'artists' should, and many probably do, see youtube as a tool for exposure. I have bought many songs on the strength of those grainy vids on youtube. As for p2p stuff. Well that is a lot different i think.

I am SO disappointed in Prince. What is his fuckin' problem?! rolleyes He should be embracing YouTube! YouTube is the future of the Internet. It contains the stuff that fans really want to see, unlike many artists' "official" sites.I was thrilled when YouTube came along a few years back. Before,it was nearly impossible to find rare music videos. Why is such a crime for fans to see old videos?? I really don't get it.These videos keep fans interested in their favorite artists. In a way,it's another form of promotion for the artist. There are many newer, younger Prince fans who have never seen his early videos.

Prince is a musical genuis,no doubt,but he's also a bitter,paranoid,out of touch person.So sad.

I back this move 100%. If YouTube and flickr and all of the rest of the user-content services are worth x billion (some of them more than most production companies and some record companies) then they should PAY to have content which attracts users and sells advertising. Users, meanwhile, aren't entitled to upload copyrighted materials like promo vids etc but because those are the things that attract other viewers, the likes of YouTube smokescreen the issue with 'It's our users and we want to protect their freedom' (nobody mentioned HQ...yet) in order to postpone the day when they're gonna have to share their profits with those whose work forms part of the value of their offering online.

Prince just put that day on their calendar!

Don't confuse the issue of 'fair use' with this (as HQ has done tediously).
We're talking about Rupert Murdoch and other media getting Prince and other content for free and I'm not surprised that Prince the businessman wants his cut.

I look forward to Prince cutting deals which will result in spectacular exclusives, special events, huge profile/press and the like on these services and enable him to resume making lots of amazing vids (a la Gold period), smoking spectacular one-off events and offering concert tickets at £31.21 (or did y'all forget?)

One thing about Prince you can rely upon and that is that HIS profits get redistributed to fans NOT shareholders.

Haters, get on the MF beam with this and support what will be an epoch-making venture that'll energise Prince TO THA MAX.

as for prince

make the vids available for sale and ppl WILL buy them - i just bought the hits collection on dvd and i already had the vhs- there are collectors amongst fans .

new fans wouldnt have had the chance/privelige 2 c the earlier vids when they were released- they should have the chance 2 c them for them selves- 2 c wot an awesome artist he was from the start.

if more commercial product was available, wouldnt that slow down some of the boots- im not naive enough 2 suggest it would stop it altogether- twocents
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before music beret

The haters' logic is so monomaniacal ('Boo Hoo! I can't do what I want and Prince hasn't released what I want therefore my human rights have been infringed. Waaaaah. I want me mam!') that the intelligent view of what Prince is ACTUALLY up to is all but obscured on the fan sites.

Here's a coupla points and patterns that others (more interested in Prince in all his machinations) will undoubtedly recognise.

1. Prince likes to make a lotta stuff
2. In the WB bag, he made a lotta stuff which has remained unreleased because, as when WB had him, they still don't consider it worth releasing. This covers the past.
3. Since WB, Prince has released a lotta stuff when he's in the mood
4. Prince wants his masters back from WB
5. Prince's market-value dropped right off the scale in the period since WB. This was entirely at Prince's discretion.
6. A deal may have been done based upon the lower market-value. Go figure
7. We are waiting. And I, for one, am LICKING MY MF LIPS

Of course all you hater-geniuses out there will hear none of it. Prince is just the big bad man who thinks your photography sucks, isn't he?

Personally, I'll never purchase another Prince product again -- only illegally download it. Prince will have to be happy with whatever millions he already has. He's a loser.

Hurt me

The funkier I be
The funkier I get, oh shit
Lickety split on the lyric
A new jack in the pulpit
Watch it deacon, your track is leakin'
What is this u're seekin'?
The syncopated rhymes are at their peak
When you jumped on my D.I.C.K.
That's the one thing that I don't play
The jock strap was 2 big 4 u anyway
U're just a simpleton
I'll bust u like a pimple, son
My star is 2 bright
Boy, I'll sink u like the ship Poseidon Adventure
U're bumpin' dentures 2 be cocksure
There must be more coming from
your mouth than manure
So with a flow and a spray, I say hey
U must become a prince before u're king anyway

As HQ recently intimated to users who have more than one account or who try to re-register after being kicked, there is a surefire way to deal with their trip which is to arrange for them to be dropped by their ISP.

(That was a great idea, HQ. A kind of 'hoist with your own petard')

I honestly don't get why everyone cares about this. He's always been funny about stuff like this, is anyone surprised? He's a control freak, god love him, and this isn't the end of the world. If fans want to exchange bootlegs privately he seems to have no issue with that. He just doesn't like it being posted online and he's the artist, he gives us the music and he's in the middle of sweating on stage for 21 nights for us and people want to have a go because he wants to control his image?

He's on his own planet, not ours. I've seen 5 of these London shows and at each one I've taken pix and video and I would never post them online. Because they are for me and they're bad quality anyway! If people want to see them they just have to ask but I respect his wishes and would not post them online. Simple as that.

Do yourselves a favour - go buy the An Evening with Kevin Smith DVD where he tells the most incredible half hour long story about Prince. It gives you the most unique insight into who he is that I have ever seen.

And put your thinking cap on

In my cauldron. That means my nugget
Sometimes I'm rugged
The style I posses be havin'
The other brothers buggin' and this is 4 those who oppose
And propose 2 overexpose disclose
Pose a threat 2 my brother
Like any other man makin' a stand
