What do you mean? Prince has done fantastic things in his musical career, every human being, if they live long enough will change, hopefully expanding and growing, which he has. He has come full circle but still has much to offer. If he does leave he would have left the music world a better place and millions of people with memories that cannot be matched or forgotten. Can you say the same thing? What have you done for anyone lately, except bitch what will the world remember about YOU? confused
[Edited 9/7/07 8:13am]

Those are some really vague statements. What exactly qualifies as "growing and expanding"? How exactly has Prince "come full circle"? I hate people who use that kind of vague, cliched argument because they appear more valid than they really are. Also, how do my accomplishments relate to a criticism of Prince? Are you implying that someone should not criticize somebody else unless their own achievements are comparable to the subject of criticism? By that specious logic, nobody who hasn't been president should criticize Bush.

I think Prince has fallen a long way in the last 10 years. He's given us really boring albums with a few exceptions. I certainly wouldn't be a fan on the strength of his last few albums alone. They've actually made me lose faith in his songwriting talents. He probably realizes his loss of talent. If PE had been a huge success, you can bet he wouldn't contemplate retirement.

I hope you’re speaking 4 yourself. That’s your opinion and u know what they say about opinions

Maybe he's gonna quit music so he can concentrate full-time on harassing housequake.com?! razz

Prince is never gonna admit that it's his 50th birthday anyway HE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE BIRTHDAYS.

He's gotta keep paying those ex-wives, but it would be nice if he tried marriage and making babies one more time biggrin

Please explain, neutral I thought they were already taken care of through divorce. Why would he have 2 continue taking care of these grown women?

I don't know about Mayte but for Manuela, he apparently told his atty to "give her whatever she wants." Could be a costly statement but then maybe she doesn't want his money.(hahahahaha)

I think thats rubbish, hes a JW and birthdays aren't celebrated so why do something big like that on a day which in theory doesn't mean much to you due to your religion... he is music. Aftershow on 6th he said that this summer was 'the summer that changed everything' maybe hes been writing and doing more stuff... smile

Future Baby Momma was playing on 104.1 ATL.
Tom Joyner comes on after the song and states that Prince has said that he will retire on his 50th Birthday.

Why would he retire at wot we claim as the date off his birth wen he is a so called JW . In other words the guy is supposedly not ment 2 make recognition off his birth date so ummm why would he make such a meaning off retirement at 50 ?

I heard this too but to tell you how screwy they got their info, Tom had no clue that Prince was already in London doing shows and hasnt Prince been there most of the last 2 months? But on a quick Tom Joyner rant regarding Prince, I hate the fact that they rarely give Prince is due on that show, yea he books Morris Day every year but he doesnt give Prince the proper respect for a DJ who is supposed to be "old school" and "funky"

Don't believe the hype!

P lives & breaths music. The only way he'd stop what he was put in this world to do is if he ceases to exist and even after that he will still live on in our hearts.

yeah, good point.

As long as we hold memories of him & his music, he'll never truly be gone... we really have posted that on the thread all about "what we'd do when he... u know... 'ceases 2 exist"

but let's not bring that back.
Cuz it seems his retirement is already causing enough panic. heheh

I thought this was fitting:

Thank God. He's done enough damage to his legacy for the last 10 years or so.

Although his legacy was cemented in the 80's, his music has become so much richer in the last two decades with the exclusion of synthetic sounds for real instruments, the inclusion of jazz and what not. Don't mistake the quantity of record sales for quality of music. He can never damage his legacy. That's like saying Michael Jordan damaged his legacy by playing for the Wizards. In the words of Mike Tyson....."That's ludicrousssss....."

Tom Joyner was tripping on Prince stating that he is getting old and that
he is a member of the AARP club and that they were going to feature him on
their next issue and that Prince high heel shoes has duct tape on them.
Okay, who wants to take care of Prince's light work?

In all seriousness, the only thing that worries be is Prince's obsession with

his image. He looks fantastic now. But what happens when he shows more of the

signs of aging? Could this possibly play on his mind? In other words, does

Prince want to go out on top of his game (image wise) or is he alright letting

people see him age. That's the only thing that worries me when there's any talk

of retirement. And you can't go back, but I regret the fact

that he could have done so much more in the nineties when he was still in his

prime.

Prince is gonna keep the party moving until he can't hold a guitar anymore because performing and music is in his soul and age ani't gonna have a darn thing to do with it, true fans don't give a hoot about how old he is cause with age comes wizdom and I've been around to watch him mature and mellow into the man he is now. If this is any indication of who he'll be in his coming years, I say bring it on! biggrin
