They'll get mad at you anyway. At least that way we get some details too.

GD already hates me. I can't have these folks hate me too!

First of all... U better spill it Girl.
Secondly, since when did GD hate U? I thought U were a major player there.
My initials R "GD", and I don't hate U.

Third... Is that part in your lips always there? What a gorgeous avvie.

I know one guy who has meet Prince, he was some kind of waiter at a club or bar he went to whilst he was in London years ago and he actually served Prince. He must have been wearing very tight pants because one of the things the guy remembered was that he had a big crotch lol

I also have another story that doesn't involve me, but I've always liked it:

Back in 1978 Prince was doing promotion for Soft and Wet and he made a stop at a now closed San Francisco record store. My friend was 14 at the time and Prince was signing "Soft and Wet" 45s.

While he was signing hers, she asked if she could give him a kiss on the cheek.
He looked up at her, but didn't respond. She went ahead gave him a quick peck on the cheek and she said all he did was look up and smirk at her, like he couldn't believe she did that. But he still didn't say anything.

I always thought that was such a cute story.

awwww.. that is so cute! i love this story. ure friend is so lucky! is she still a fan?

To this very day. She's been a fan as long as Prince has been on the scene.

I was talking about the slight part (space) in the middle...

I was one of those v.lucky people that met him at a London afterparty in 2002 (it was posted a lot on here back then you may have read it).
I was with 4 others I'd met with that night and we went into the Click club (I think it was called that). We were the first to arrive I think, so this waitress guided us into the back room. It may have been a members only room or a vip room as there weren't many there and most if not all other fans were in the next room where the dance floor was. Perhaps she thought we were staff as we had our music club passes on?
We were sitting there having drinks and Rhonda Smith was standing opposite us about 6 feet away but I didn't recognise her! Perhaps her hair was different? But if I had I could have easily spoken to her.
Then we were told to move because Prince wanted to sit in these seats. So we weren't going to move far! We just sat in the next seats 6 feet away and then Prince came in and sat there on his own with about 2 bodyguards standing next to him.
He was looking at us maybe sussing out if we were press, but we all had Prince t-shirts on so we obviously were fans.
I always thought it was rude to stare so I was glancing at him quite often, but didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable!
Then to my surprise he walked up to us and said 'Hey fellas where are your women!'. A couple said 'there at home' then Prince said 'Maybe U can find someone tonight!'. He was very very perky and sharp considering it was 2am but that's Prince!
I crossed my fingers after he said that and he did the same and grinned!
He said he felt strange with all these men sitting around him but no women!
He asked us where we were from. One of us said a town from up north and he said he didn't know that place.
But of our group was from Holland and after us asking if he was going to play tonight Prince asked him about the bootlegging in Holand. The man replied that if Prince were to release the songs it would stop the bootleggers. Prince said something like 'If I stole your clothes and sold them that wouldn't be very nice'. Then he shook his hand.
I plucked up the courange to ask him a question that had been bugging me 'How can you sleep for so little?'
Prince replied enigmatically 'U sleep when U die.' To which I responded 'and live tired'
He replied seriously 'I never get tired.'
Then he got the 'It Ain't Over' cd from his pocket and took it into the next room to play it.

Fans think sometimes what they would say if they met Prince and yes I wish I'd had thanked him for his music over the years but at the time I was quite nervous (anyone would be!) so it's hard to think properly about what to say! Just like meeting someone you've fallen in love with, people get tonge-tied!

He was really great and witty (I can't remember everything he said) and did make us feel relaxed. Hopefully I'll have another time to say 'thankyou!'

On 1 Aug I attended the opening night at the O2. I had paid £170 for a ticket in the online auction in the front row, right behind the band (block E1 row A incase you're wondering). After the main show, the "box" was wheeled out, the band walked out (past the audience), the house lights came on and the audience began to slowly exit. I had left the front row to find the bar. When I was five rows from the front, along the aisle, behind us there was some commotion and there was P walking back down the aisle towards the stage. There were five or six huge security guys trying to stop people from getting near him. Somehow, without moving from where I had stopped to look, P was walking right at me, and I was between the security guys and P. I didn't know what to say or do (I'd had a few beers by now), so as he walked past me (he had a grin as if he was really having a good time) I grabbed his right hand as if to give him a handshake. He didn't look at me as he was probably concerned with making it to the stage in one piece. I did notice how short he was. I'm 5'5" and he appeared to be about eye level with me in his heels. I also noticed that he didn't look his age. In fact he looked unchanged from the last time I was that close to him, in 1988!

1988: Tower Records and HMV London: P had scheduled a couple of record signings on a Saturday, around 10 or 11am at Tower then later at HMV. The only warning people had had were instore posters the day prior. The queue at Tower was quite big considering, about 200-300 people. The queue moved quickly. The only records available were SOTT and Lovesexy (vinyl albums). So like most people, I bought both and managed to get them signed. I didn't get any eye contact with P, but I did with most of the band including Sheila E. Then onto HMV later, there were less people and people were spending time talking to P and the band. When it was my turn, P duly signed the albums (yes, I bought them twice!) and I said I loved his music and the shows (I hadn't thought of preparing something smart to say). Sheila E was next, and she recognised me from the previous signing. She asked me why I had bought the records twice, and I can't remembered what I answered. I then looked to my right and P was saying something to me. As there was a lot of background noise, I couldn't hear him. I said I didn't hear him and asked him to say it again, to which he didn't and instead gave me a stern look. I hadn't ever seen him with that look and it bugged me as to why he looked at me like that and it contradicted his "public image". To this day, I remember that look clearly.

Well that's it from me!

I have a cousin who met Prince @ Glam Slam LA. My cousin was a Raiderette @
the time. P was hosting a B-day bash for Magic Johnson. My cousin was dancing w/
some friends, when a man approached her and asked" Do you know who owns this club?" She replied "Yes, Prince. He then said " My boss wants to meet you"
She was escorted to P's VIP booth. P told her that he had been watching her all
night and wanted to meet her. My cousin told Prince that I was big fan of his
and that i would die if i knew she had met him. P replied" You better no tell him cuz I don't want to be resposible for his death"

They exchanged phone numbers. Prince paged her and talked w/ her on the phone for two weeks. He asked her out on a date. He said he was going to rent out a
movie theatre so they could watch a movie w/ just the two of them.

My cousin was just 20yrs old @ the time. She thought he was kind of creepy.
He kept insisting on going out with her. She never went out with him.

He wanted her to be in a music video. It was the Gold Experince video.
If you have watched it , The girl in the video looks just like my cousin.

Well who knows, If they would have hit it off, he would have been part of my family.

U know, this story is rather funny & sounds VERY familiar. However, the story eye know is not set in LA, but in little old Scotland. Same time, Gold experience. Same scene almost,at a concert then aftershow,Glasgow. Same bodyguard's quote even,'The Boss wants 2 meet u.'From what eye can remember, he was very secrective, wanted no1 else 2 know. Seems he will only speak 2 u when & if he wants 2. The only difference was the movie theatre part. 4 the girl eye know, he flew her 2 next destination in the tour 4 the next gig. Funnily enough, she also was very similar 2 Cory, the girl in the Gold video. What get's me tho is that he was with Mayte at the time.....

and that i would die if i knew she had met him.

What get's me tho is that he was with Mayte at the time.....

and Nona and I wonder who else confused

omg- you are so lucky! what an amazing experience!!! I got goosebumps just reading about it. I only wish I could have seen a pic or something. I can only imagine what that night for you was like.

Thanks! It was indeed an incredible experience. The thing is, I basically stopped telling people who are not at least Internet savy about my experience with Prince, mainly because my only "real proof" is an ORG link (and printout) with posts from people who were actually there and seen me play with Prince. It would be great if I had some type of video footage or even a few low res pics! Ultimately, it ranks amoung the greatest experiences in my life, and I wouldn't change the memories from that night for anything. I just like to share it with folks that can appreciate it.

That is amazing. I wish I were you.

That's cool, because as far as I'm concerned I represented every Prince fan that night, including you Lovesexy82!

Another cool thing about that night that I've never mentioned on the ORG before was what happened after the performance. As I exited the theater into the lobby where we all waited for the show to start, I was first in and in the front, so I was the last one out. As people started to recognize me as I came out into the lobby, everyone started clapping and cheering, which was almost as overwhelming to me. There were people patting me on the back, and I couldn't help but think of how much it reminded me of the Purple Rain movie when Prince went back into the 1st Ave Club after thinking he bombed only to walk into an unexpected reception!

I always thought that was such a cute story.

your friend is cool cool t4p!
too bad youd get karate chopped if you tried that on today's Prince lol

I have a cousin who met Prince @ Glam Slam LA. My cousin was a Raiderette @

That's what confuses me also, Prince was with Mayte and he was picking up all of those women! What the hell is wrong with him? lol

That's odd that Prince would give you a stern look when you asked him to repeat himself. confuse
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
