I think it is obvious that Justin Timberlake is a Prince hater. He HAS to be jealous because he wishes he had a fraction of the talent. And he is a punk and Prince is a legend.

I don't know if thats true or not but it is still possible. U don't know it this is true??? No disrespect, but you SHOULD know this!! This is a part of music history!! Just like the fact that Elvis, John Lennon, Patsy Cline; Frank Sinatra; Jimmi Hendrix etc are dead. These are just a select few people who are deceased and played a MAJOR role in shaping American music or popular music around the world for that matter. My issue was not weather or not Marvin had any beef with Prince. It's just that that origional poster said something like Marvin not liking Prince "anymore". I didn't know if this person was aware that Marvin was gone. No negativity intended, just stating some facts.

But Slash attended one of his Vegas concerts, right? It seems he still enjoys the music. Keith Richards - there was a rumour that Keith acknowledged Prince´s talent after watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances. Could somebody confirm? Slash and Prince were at the American Music awards one year (just after Prince had recorded Batman) and Slash mentioned during an interview that Prince completely blew him off... vainandy said: Thanks newskin69. I'm not a Guns and Roses fan at all so I never heard the song at all. I just remember there being a lot of controversy about some homophobic and racial slurs coming from the band in the late 80s or early 90s. I had always thought they were on the back of the album cover or something. Didn't one of the band members wear a T-Shirt somewhere that said something like "God hates fags" or "AIDS kills fags"?
No. There are lyrics on the song "One In A Million" as posted above by someone here that mentions certain minorities in a less than flattering light. The "AIDS kills fags...dead" t-shirt was worn by the lead singer of "Skid Row" who since apologized...then added "but it was still a funny shirt."

MJ, a famous DJ here in the Central Florida area lambasted Prince when "The Greatest Romance" was released. I remember, they previewed the song for people, and MJ cut the song off before the chorus even kicked in calling it crap and that he never likes what Prince plays and it would never be played on his show.
http://mj.933flz.com/mjbj.html <--here's the crew. It's the show that lead me to listen to NPR news instead of regular music radio in the morning. It reaches 2 million people in central Florida alone.

Anyway.. Alec Baldwin Keith Richards Sinead O Connor Robbie Williams Rick James doesn´t count anymore, see the post above , and about Marvin Gaye I´m not so sure...read Dave Ritz´ bio " Divided Soul " for more info. Marvin didn´t really like Prince because he saw a rival in him but I´m too lazy to look it up now. Why Alec? Because Prince was with Kim?

Aren't Guns and Roses the ones that had something on the back of one the albums talking about "niggers, jews, and fags"? If so, yeah, they are trash and not worthy of Prince's or anyone else's time. And while Slash is talking about someone looking like a "fag", I notice he has no problem performing with Michael Jackson. Of course, assholes have no problem with weak "fags" like Michael. It's strong "fags" like Prince they can't stand because the strong fags turn their nose up and see themselves above trash rather than crying somewhere like Michael Jackson.

I think this was the AMA when Slash was drink on the stage and used a lot of profanity which did not get beeped out.
I kind of think that the "nigger and faggot" lyrics turned a lot of people off to Guns and Roses. newskin69 said: sosgemini said: umm...slash is part black...thats about all i know...anyone else have info on the hate comments by gnr? I know Slash didnt feel what the lyricse were saying. In fact, he got downright pissed at Axl for that(at least that's what he said in Behind The Music). Anyway, I doubt it was anything seriously hateful on Slash's part other than being just a burn(tho that's no excuse for using a word like that). Really, Prince has offended alot of people for being like that. One example is Trent Reznor supposedly. He was a big Prince fan and even got into serious discussions with him to remix a song from the Come album. Later on, when they bumped into each other again, Prince walked passed him, never even acknowledging him. That's Prince for you. So yea..Slash may have used the wrong word, but Prince wasn't exactly the nicest cat on the block either. BTW, is the Elizabeth Taylor story true?? Man thats fucking nuts!!

I remember several years ago when I was in love with TRAIN due to 'Drops of Jupiter' and the lead singer was on a VH-1 'best of' countdown show where Sinead's
'NOthing Compares to You' was ranked. The guy said the only thing bad about the song was that Prince wrote it. How could a serious musician say something like that? I was so offended that I stopped listening to Train. Seriously, my heart stopped. That's a damn beautiful song, beautifully written and who is he to talk about PRince! Something makes me think Bill Cosby was critical of Prince back in the 80's. I can't point to anything specific though. It just seems like I read it somewhere, sometime.
I do remember that Joe Jackson (MJ's father) was worried when Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis took young Miss Janet to Minneapolis to record "Control." He didn't want her sounding like Prince. Jam and Lewis reassured him her record wasn't going to be like that!
