what was Prince thinking? He probably thought Michael Jackson was hiding in one of her closets.

I've always suspected Jools Holland of not liking Prince following his comment after the TV show "The Tube" played the Sign o the times video and he sais something like "how easily impressed we all are". His co-presenter Paula Yates (now deceased) was always a big fan though.
I'd like to think this is not true as Jools is an incredible musician and has a great music program that I'd love to see Prince appear on.

About Slash, I heard that he recorded ´Peach´ with Rod Stewart without knowing it was a Prince song, and got kind of upset when he discovered.
But Slash attended one of his Vegas concerts, right? It seems he still enjoys the music. Keith Richards - there was a rumour that Keith acknowledged Prince´s talent after watching the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances. Could somebody confirm?

For the record, Marvin Gaye never had an issue with Prince. During 78/79 he admitted being jealous of the newcomer Prince who was "stealing his (women) fans" because he was younger and sang falsetto. But Marvin, simply saw Prince as serious competition. There was no disdain.

Yeah, those glammed up, make-up wearing, hair-sprayed boys of her beloved hair metal really show up Prince in the masculinity department. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! SoulAlive said: Slash of Guns N' Roses---He's pissed because Prince walked right past him, backstage at the 1990 American Music Awards. The members of Guns N' Roses tried to talk to him but Prince totally ignored them."I didn't really care",Slash said."He looked like a fag that night anyway".
See, that's what I love about Prince. He doesn't waste his time mingling with the trash. Aren't Guns and Roses the ones that had something on the back of one the albums talking about "niggers, jews, and fags"? If so, yeah, they are trash and not worthy of Prince's or anyone else's time. And while Slash is talking about someone looking like a "fag", I notice he has no problem performing with Michael Jackson. Of course, assholes have no problem with weak "fags" like Michael. It's strong "fags" like Prince they can't stand because the strong fags turn their nose up and see themselves above trash rather than crying somewhere like Michael Jackson. sosgemini said: umm...slash is part black...thats about all i know...anyone else have info on the hate comments by gnr? - He is probably referring to Axl Rose´s ´One in a million´ lyrics. Living Colour had some problems with Axl because of it too. Guess I needed Sometime to get away I needed some peace of mind Some peace of mind that'll stay So I thumbed it Down to sixth and L.A. Maybe your greyhound Could be my way Police and niggers That's right Get out of my way Don't need to buy none of your Goldchains today I don't need no bracelets Clamped in front of my back Just need my ticket till then Won't you cut me some slack Chorus: You're one in a million Yeah, that's what you are You're one in a million, babe You are a shooting star Maybe someday we'll see you Before you make us cry You know we tried to reach you But you were much to high Much to high Much to high Much to high Immigrants and faggots They make no sense to me They come to our country And think they'll do as they please Like start some mini Iran Or spread some fucking disease They talk so many goddamn ways It's all greek to me Well some say I'm lazy And others say that's just me Some say I'm crazy I guess I'll always be But it's been such a long time Since I knew right from wrong It's all the means to an end, I, I keep on movin' along Chorus Radicals and racists Don't point your finger at me I'm a small town white boy Just tryin' to make ends meet Don't need your religion Don't watch that much TV Just makin' my livin', baby, Well that's enough for me

I remember Fred Durst being on the Howard Stern Show a few years back being all upset ,because backstage at the VMAs, Prince didn't acknowledge him. Mark McGrath was there also and made some comment about how his album (The Vault...Old Friends 4 Sale or Rave) debut somewhere in the hundreds and then he started laughing. Nice to see McGrath now as a cohost of Extra and also becoming a spokesman for I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Wow,good career choices there.
I also remember a show on Vh1 called The List where celebs would talk about songs and artists and I recall Meatloaf rolling his eyes when Prince's name came up. [Edited 7/23/07 13:28pm]

I know Slash didnt feel what the lyricse were saying. In fact, he got downright pissed at Axl for that(at least that's what he said in Behind The Music). Anyway, I doubt it was anything seriously hateful on Slash's part other than being just a burn(tho that's no excuse for using a word like that). Really, Prince has offended alot of people for being like that. One example is Trent Reznor supposedly. He was a big Prince fan and even got into serious discussions with him to remix a song from the Come album. Later on, when they bumped into each other again, Prince walked passed him, never even acknowledging him. That's Prince for you. So yea..Slash may have used the wrong word, but Prince wasn't exactly the nicest cat on the block either. BTW, is the Elizabeth Taylor story true?? Man thats fucking nuts!!

Thanks newskin69. I'm not a Guns and Roses fan at all so I never heard the song at all. I just remember there being a lot of controversy about some homophobic and racial slurs coming from the band in the late 80s or early 90s. I had always thought they were on the back of the album cover or something. Didn't one of the band members wear a T-Shirt somewhere that said something like "God hates fags" or "AIDS kills fags"? Andy is a four letter word.

Nah, that was Sebastian Bach. It was a shirt that said AIDS: Kills Fags Dead or some shit like that. He doesnt like bringing that up these days.
