22 years. After my brother bought the ATWIAD album I listened to it and was blown away. That started the obsession with Prince!

I just heard that Little Richard is performing this weekend in Baltimore in a decorated wheelchair. I immediately thought of 20 years from now and wondered if Prince will still be performing....Probably so with a pimp daddy cane. God now I'm depressed. Princed please tour the USA after London. We need you.....

Well you beat me, you've been a fan double the length of time that I have. Four Years. Although I'm only 20 so wasn't really that aware of him until around then - knew of him but never took notice - no one I knew listened to him (they still don't!).

I saw the Alicia Keys/Gwen Stefani version of Kiss on Brit Awards and thought it was such an amazing song, so I found out that it was by Prince. Rest is history and now I obviously have all of the albums and am a huge fan. Seeing him this Saturday, so my dream of finally seeing will have come true.

I'm a fairly recent Prince fan. I started getting into his music in the summer of 2005(after hearing a MJ fan rant and rave about how good his music was; yes, that's right,I was a Michael Jackson fan before Prince. lol )

I went on a huge cd buying binge after hearing his music for the first time. nod

Since 1992 so 15 years. Always liked most of his stuff before this but at the time (I was 15 years old) was more into hard rock (how tastes change as they soon became very eclectic). The track that started my obsession with the Great One was Peach, bought the single (my first Prince purchase), then The Hits/The B-Sides and within six months I'd got all the albums and was snapping up bootlegs. Got to see him in the UK for the first time on The Gold Experience tour. I'm sure there'll be many years to remain a fan and follow P yet.
these are the days of wild........

Walking around in 79 singing "I wanna b ur lover" and my mom asking what I know about being a lover! Not knowing who sang it but loving the song. Then my coz getting Dirty Mind cassette 4 his bday and singin "Jack U off" and not knowing what that was but singing it @ the top of my lungs every where I went.

Heard "LRC" but still not a big fam or know that I had been jamming 2 this dude 4 years. Then saw "Purple Rain" and that day I went and got my first cassette. The next day I went back 2 the store and got Prince and 4 U (cause that's all I had the money 4) getting home and relizing I LOVED this guys stuff and a week later I had them all.
So when should I count myself as joining the fam? Is it 29y or 22y?

I say 29 years! If you don't get an invite either, you can come to my party! party

Since '78. My older sister had the For You album. I LOVED Soft & Wet---even though at 7 I had no clue what the devil he was talking about. Then came '79's Prince with him on the that winged-horse naked!! Hot damn!! "When Were Dancing Close and Slow" is still one of my favorite Prince cuts. So 29 fantastic years & I've loved every (mostly) minute of it. Viva-la-Prince! cloud9

I've only been a Prince fan since January 19th of this year when I saw him for the first time in Vegas at the Rio. My mom and stepdad wanted me to go to Vegas with them, all expenses paid, and I thought if I'm going back to Vegas (least favorite vacation spot) for the 4th time, I want to make it worth my time and when I heard that Prince was performing there I thought why not since I've never seen him before. I have to admit he totally blew me away with his performance. This man is beyond talented!!! I know I've wasted many years not being a fan of his but I'm hooked now and it's at a time that he has matured as an artist and as a spiritual individual. I can enjoy his music along with ballads and a little jazz which is my favorite.
