I remember lying in bed listening to my sister play lovely music when I was 4, and when my mum told her to turn it down I asked her not to. That 'lovely music' was the opening chords of 'Let's Go Crazy', and it was 1984.

I listened in to my sister's music collection, sneaking into her room and playing albums when she was out and when I learned how taping them onto tapes. I got my first pocket money in 1991, then I went out and bought Diamonds and Pearls.

So 1984... Wow!
I'm looking out for a purple dolphin.

since 1978 and have been defending him 4 that long 2 - the people from my neighbourhood were cruel saying he's gay and 2 feminine
when the bottom line is that he's a musical genius and all that doesn't matter - people can be so critical!

Thanks Christaro! and a2grafix, I actually had to sneak and buy 1999 on vinyl at a department store called Zayre when it came out. I was brought up in a very religious family and had to hide it and listen when my parents were out of the house. So glad I had the good sense to not listen to my parents when it came to my music.

Me too. When I heard Controversy back in the day in 1982, I was hooked.
I did not even know what controversy meant until I asked my Mom. Thanks, Prince! However, with his other songs, my parents kinda did not like. However, I was able to buy his albums.

My parents started getting worried about me and all the questions I was asking about Prince's lyrics. They were like --- oh lord!
Be glad and rejoice for the Lord has done marvelous things!

For me.. Prince is special to me.. my mom was pregnant with me when she heard *when doves cry* and was a fan since then. I always say I was a fan before birth. Everytime I listen to the PR cd it just feels like a "old friend" if you will. I consider prince a special bond I have with my mother. Is that weird? so that would be 21 years and counting prince music

7 years, ever since I was introduced to Prince, but if I was alive in the 70s when his first album came out I would have been a fan since then, making it 29 years my mind; if that makes any sense at all.

Wow.. a noobie!! Welcome to the wierd and wondeful world of being a prince fan and the org.

Get all his stuff - right back to 1978. Took me years to explore it all, and loved every minute... aaaahhhh..... memories of going to the public library, taping the cd's, and creating my own covers (yes I was a gippo).

PS I have it all on CD now though! smile
