Amazing track - the one that grabs you straight away. Bet this will be just awesome live - especially if P goes off on one - i love it when bands do that - really does just take you away. OHHHH I LOVE PRINCE!!!! "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift - that's why they call it the present." -RW Emerson

Great track. Very danceable, very catchy. Love the trumpet solos at the end. My only complaint is there isnt enough build to it. It does get a little more energetic before the end, but there's scope for so much more.
Also i can only hear Daft Punks "Around The World" when I hear the bass line -they're identical. daft Punk probably ripped it from someone else too.

Funny bassline. To me it sounds like a mix of Batman and New Power Soul, it's great! "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

the more i listen to it the more i really don't like it.
so far it's the only song on this album i don't like and i wonder why. it's not just about the shelby leadvox. i think the song itself isn't all that fun. people keep writing it's the most funky tune he's done in god knows how long. are you sure? isn't that just the way you feel since there is almost zero funk on the album but for this track? it's kind of flat and predictable imo. some nice touches though. still rather have had glass cutter and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Is that Shelby on this track? Her voice meshes well with Prince. I hope he records more tracks with her 'cause this one is HOT!!!!!

Love this song, it reminds me of a Sly Stone tune. It has a very danceable disco groove. And I like Shelby's vocals on it.
One question, since I've been out of the loop for a bit, who is Chelsea Rodgers? RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

But is it old school disco?

Prince has bounced back to the character a lot, most notabaly on TRC, "The opposote of Nato is Aten". Akhenaton was an 18th Dynasty Pharoah who created Monothesism by praying to the one god, The Aten or sundisk. His birth name was Tuthmosis III, and some beleive that he was where the story of Moses (Mosis) came from as he brought Monotheism (amid much adversity) to Egypt. He died and the Pantheon is reinstated under Tutankamun. The CD single artwork for "Peace" was a relief showing Akhenaton and his sundisk so I guess for whatever reason Prince identified with Akhenaton or how he stood for what he belived in and went against the status quo to embrace it. He has often alluded to Akhenaton over the last 10 years. In a side note to this, it may interest you to know that Akhenaton had himself represented in all statues and reliefs as being Androgynous. Oh! Well, I suppose that makes some kind of sense... "Plaid shorts are completely over."

I keep hearing people say this is a hit for a club... I guess we frequent different clubs.. Unless it was remixed, I don't think this would play in the clubs I used to frequent. The last song he did that I could imagine playing in a club would be Black Sweat.

Yeh i did. The song is a 2007 remake of Cindy C, except in stead of banging her, Prince converts her. "this especially prepared potato is called pomme de terre"

i'd like this song alot better if i could actually hear prince's vocals. imo this one of the most overrated tracks on planet earth. it doesnt mesh well with the rest of the album either.

I'm diggin' the "might as well dance" background vox by Prince.
Like the rest of the album, U have 2 hear it from the CD in order 2 appreciate the detail and the mix... Those crappy mp3 versions (even the better ones) kill the dynamics and obscure some of the stuff down low in the mix. Peace. ~G~ "He's a musician's musician..."

This is possibly my favorite track on PE. The beat, the bass line, the breaks. LOVE IT! To GOD be the Glory!

Same here! The bassline sounds like Daft Punk's "Around the World" to me. (which could have been sampled from something else, but I don't know ) Anyway, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/wa...MpsnDxNbqQ "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I'm a player, and these R 2 entirely different basslines, other than the fact that they're both very 1977-1980 Disco Funk. "He's a musician's musician..."
