When I first heard the album version of "Guitar", I was missing the sounds and the feel of the demo version.
But when U hear it right after the brilliant, serious, ripping "Planet Earth", it is perfect. It just KICKS. When U hear the CD quality version, U can hear a few other parts way back in the mix. In fact, the sequencing on this album works perfectly from one song 2 the next. "He's a musician's musician..."

The demo was available for purchase, and the album has another version. I'm glad to have two versions. Version 2 version, I prefer the demo, 'cause it's more interesting, sound-wise... AWIAD sounding, with Prince's drum programming. BUT, when listening 2 the album, going from "Planet Earth" 2 the album version, makes it perfect in it's delivery. "He's a musician's musician..."

Yeah, the 2 immediate "soundalike" songs are I Will Follow and Back In The USSR.
I've been holding off on listening to the album until I get it next Tuesday, but of course I've heard Guitar. It's OK-to-good, so I'm hoping the rest of the album is better. I prefer the vocal delivery of the Demo, but the guitar work of the album track.

I've listened to this dozens of times in an attempt to like it, and it hasn't worked. The lyrics are trite and the vocals are the whiney half-singing that I don't like. That said, the instrumentation toward the end really does take off, and it works. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

This sounds like a rock band playing Boys & Girls. Lyrics are quite funny. Overall: throwaway. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

It's "Fury 2" - rare to hear him use fadeouts nowadays...
'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

I've tried and I've tried to like it but no go. It sucks. Hard. I slightly perefer the original version, too. I really like this one too and I think it could do with being longer and with a wailing guitar solo in it too - or make it more funky with more guitars !!!!

I like the sound. I am not crazy about the lyrics.

It's catchy, but sounds a little dated to be a lead single. Sounds like a tune that could have easily fit on the Gold Expereince CD.

If Guitar borrows from I Will Follow then I Will Follow just as likely borrowed from the Intro to Sex Pistols' Anarchy In The Uk , they're all much of a muchness . Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

Somebody slap me for this but... It sound like a reply to Justin Timberlake's little song with Nelly and Timberland. (couldnt do it on his own, wanting to drive HIS car. (the Prince sound). bla bla bla.
Does anyone sense a tiny bit of this?

I like the driving guitar all the way through. Sounds sorta crappy streaming it but i'm sure i'll really like it on a cd quality pressed disc. "Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

Must be because I'm getting old too, but I love this one. Best intro to a P song in years - can already hear the crowd go mental when this kicks off at the O2 next month.
Not overly fond of the vocal, but overall feel it's a fun upbeat pop song - and long live them. Just wish it didn't fade, but finished.
