Planet Earth is a great CD the Problem is the Track sequence is wrong.
Guitar should be the 1st song and Planet Earth the last as well as Somewhere here on Earth. I rearranged the track sequence and this Cd sounds better with the slow tracks at the end.

Planet Earth IS a Beautiful Mess!
It's muddled confusing and noisy but very ambitious
and I love it!

Wish he added some more layered vocals during the climax such like in Joy in Repetition.
As I listed to this over and over, I couldn't put my finger on which
Song this already was and now I know, it's When I lay my hands on you!

This could have been his "Hey Jude" !
I still like this very much and have to put it on the classic list along with Somewhere here on Earth

PRINCE IS BACK!
WISH B-SIDE were Still popular!

Oh no...at first listen I didn't like this song...after listening a couple more times, ok I'm starting to feel it a little...but now the "Hey Jude" reference...Hey Jude has to be the most boring song on the real planet Earth...I almost fell asleep during PM's Superbowl performance...naa na na nanananaaaaa...please don't let me think of that song while listening to PE...

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I like it, especially the guitar and Prince screaming at the end. The guitar part is not long enough and the screaming is not loud enough.

musicolog

the synth horns sounding like played on a "Bontempi" (at least in Germany a well known `keyboard´ for childs)

Exactly what I feel when hearing the bridge ! Bontempi ! (in french Bontempi sounds like "bon, tan pis !" which means "well, too bad !")

This song would have been perfect 2 me without this very weak and uninspired melodic bridge, ruined with old laughable synthetized sounds. At least use real instruments and soulful horns or piano player ! Even the drums at that point sound empty...

Reminds me also of When Eye Lay my Hands on U which may be better because more coherent.

Well I'm a little angry because I really love that song after all, like a big piece of gold stained with lead...

I like it when Prince goes over the top in songs like this (3 chains Of Gold, Strays Of The World, etc). I enjoy this song as an opener, but it would have worked maybe even better as a closer.

My only complaint about the song is that it is muddy sounding. The mix could have been spectacular, but now it misses life.

Planet Earth grows on you the more you listen to it. Just like basically the whole album, it gets better with time. To me, that's a good sign because usually when I like something right away it gets tired rather quickly and I end up shelving it soon after. Planet Earth is a very good song and album and sure to be one of his better releases when looked back upon in the future.

I like it when Prince ponders and reflects. He does it with such gentleness in his voice. Very energizing track.

I think the guitar solo in this song, plus the ending was what he meant to do in FURY, but somehow got sidetracked!

I mostly love this. Some of the singing sounds quite bad but not enough to ruin it. I really love when the drums first come in fully, that's the best part.
