The track is growing on me, but is it just me, the vocals on the choruses are soooo low in the mix. i've played it on several different speakers. for example... careful now the next one might be ..... and the "you" just gets drowned....

I love Prince's power anthems and this one is no exception. It has everything I love in a Prince song..thoughtful lyrics, masterful arrangement, soaring guitar, it's all there. PE is my favorite track on the album.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

It sounds like the secret love child of "3 Chains O Gold" and "When I lay My Hands On U".....

I dont know..im hearing Empty Room and Could it Be Magic not so much Strays of The World.
I agree with an earlier comment that his vocals seem to be quite low in the mix.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

Could it be time for Prince to allow another talent to come in an produce his material?I think so.

I'll be interested to see who mixed it, and who mastered it. the choruses sound like a backing track mix. But apart from that I do like the album, much better than musicology or 3121

Planet Earth is great, i think the album as a whole is really good, shame about the inclusion of Mr Goodnight, which in my opinion ruins the entire cd. Another rock track here would have been far better.

Although I love some parts of the song it's a bit confusing to me because of several things:

- the idea of the bridge is great but it would've been better with a totally original melody, plus those synth horns are just totally laughable and wrong.
- I feel it isn't an opening track at all
- the piano sound is too 'steril' to me, it feels like somebody's putted on the laboratory effect... lol
- it reminds me too much of Empty Room too

Planet Earth, the song, is the SHIT! I love how epic the song is. It's like I'm going through a musical odyseey. I will say, it reminds me of songs from the past like Crystal Ball and All My Dreams. Great song.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Very nice arrangement, a surprising bridge (some dont like it, i love it), and some nice drumming towards the end, and a typical 'Princely' over the top-finale: a guilty pleasure wink

But my main complaint is that the melodylines are not strong enough, he should really have put more effort in those. The quite weak melody kills a song that could have otherwise been a real classic.

Is a song like this supposed to have a strong melody?
No, it's not.

Nonsense, alamine.

I dont mean a sing-along catchy 'melody' but a melody that shows more 'class' then the lousy melody it is now.

Imagine holding Planet Earth
In the palm of your hand
With no regard for your place of birth
Or claim to any land

The only thing between us now is the truth we understand
If Planet Earth was in the palm of your hand

50 years from now what will they say about us here?
Did we care for the water and the fragile atmosphere?

There are only 2 kinds of folk
And the difference they make
The ones that give
And the ones that take

Just like the countless bodies
That revolve around the sun
Planet Earth must now come into balance with the one,
That caused it all to be
Then we'll see His kingdom come,
So shall it be written, so shall it be sung

Imagine you could rid the Earth
Of anyone you choose
Which ones would you need the most
And which ones would you lose?

Do we want to judge another
Lest we be judged too?
Careful now... The next one might be you

Just like the countless bodies
That revolve around the sun
Planet Earth must now come into balance with the one,
That caused it all to be
Then we'll see His kingdom come,
So shall it be written, so shall it be sung

Imagine sending your first born
Off to fight a war
With no good reason how it started and what they are fighting for
And if they're blessed to make it home
Will they still be poor?

Pray for peace right now and forever more

Just like the countless bodies
That revolve around the sun
Planet Earth must now come into balance with the one,
That caused it all to be
Then we'll see His kingdom come,
So shall it be written, so shall it be sung
(one more time)

Just like the countless bodies
That revolve around the sun
Planet Earth must now come into balance with the one,
That caused it all to be
Then we'll see His kingdom come,(see his kingdom come)
So shall it be written, so shall it be sung (shall it b sung)
so shall it, so shall it b sung!
