I find it funny how the mood of this topic changed halfway through. Trent's a talented artist with a tainted view from the public after that comment he made in his early days. It's a shame some people don't take the time to actually listen to his stuff before jumping on the Hate Train.

Sure would be nice to hear him back on the music scene. Wishing Well. Wishing Well.

They are both great artists. Had TTD's career pursued further, I'm guessing we would have heard some extremely great tunes.

How did a positive comment by TTD get turned into such a negative.Any musician can see that the man is very talented, or non musician for that matter. Some people may not like his music but to call him not talented or bad is kind of silly.

because he's a delusional wannabe-artist.....

TTD is the F...ing Man and he deserves respect but he really needs to get his old band back (with Kevin Wyatt and Louis Metoyer) cause his new band sucks big time.

Have you or anyone got his new live album, how is it?

And does anyone know about a new studio album coming ???

Both volumes of Angels & Vampires are quality albums.

Sananda Maitreya is an extremely talented artist. Why do some fools always gotta hate on the man. The fact is his entire catalog sounds extremely different from Prince's music so why do some of you always classify him as a Prince wanna-be, that just shows ignorance on your part. It's always the same thing on the org, one person posts news on Sananda and then the idiot parade comes out to bash him. They never have anything new to say except the same old shit:
* that he's a Prince wanna-be (he's not)
* they bring up some silly comment he made in the 80's when
he was just starting out.
* the name change (Prince changed his name to get
outta his contract. Sananda changed his name
for spiritual reasons and has kept his new
name. A lot of people have done this...Muhammad
Ali, Malcolm X, Cat Stevens, etc. Funny they
never referred to as Prince wanna-be's.
* the Angels and Vampires album cover that ignorant
people like to dis instead of talking about the music.

You haters are showing your true ignorance. Any black man that plays rock,
that is a multi-instrumentalist, that is a singer/songwriter, is automatically
labeled a Prince wanna-be regardless of whether or not his music sounds like Prince's. Sananda's music sounds totally different from Prince's. Sananda has released some of the best funk/rock cd's in the last 17 years. Have you heard "Symphony or Damn," "Vibrator," and "WildCard?" Whether or not you like it is a matter of taste but you cannot deny after listening to these albums that there is a HIGH DEGREE of talent, musicianship, and songwriting involved. Those 3 cd's are fucking incredible...but most of the haters have probably only heard "The Hardline."

And to the guy who keeps calling Sananda "Sandra"...dude, you show up in every single Sananda thread with the same corny joke and nobody laughs. Get a new line bro. You must be the annoying guy at the party who keeps saying the same crappy joke until someone reluctantly chuckles just so you'll go away. That "Sandra" line is very "third-grade" of you.

So yeah, Sananda is a great musician/songwriter. An incredible vocalist. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but who is? I just think some of you should stop hating on another excellent musician just because he's not Prince. There's only one Prince. There's only one Sananda. There are many incredible artist in the world. Be a lover not a hater.

If you would have seen him live in '95 like I did he would have blown you away even more....the Vibrator Tour was unbelievable. An entire concert from The Vibrator Tour is up on YouTube. If you haven't seen it, you MUST check it out. As for the fools that keep dissing Sananda, you guys are just dissing yourselves. It's one thing if you are not a fan of his music but there's no denying his talent.

Well first of all, I agree with you that the lineup he had with Kevin Wyatt and Louis Metoyer was absolutely out of this world.

I'm not sure of why he and that band went there separate ways but I do remember reading a while back in one of his newsletters where he mentioned that he could no longer afford to pay them. That would seem to make sense since in the late 90's he left the major record label he was on and released WildCard independantly. I've seen pics on his website that show he was STILL touring with that lineup of Kevin Wyatt, Louis Metoyer, Stevo Theard on drums, etc. in 2001 in support of "WildCard" so they were with him for over a decade.

Pure speculation on my part but I guess that leaving a major record label, getting married, moving to Europe, touring less and recording an album all on his own all factored into that. I can't think of his name right now but the guy who played guitar and sax and keys stopped touring to be with his family and as for Louis Metoyer, he has his own myspace page (www.myspace.com/louismetoyer) and is still playing and recording in LA I believe.

I think it also might have been because the band members had their families in the USA while Sananda had moved to Europe and they didn't want to be away from home all the time.
