Prince & NPG Exodus CD

I just got this from ebay and must say I was pleasantly surprised.

I really like Hallucination Rain and The Good Life. And those skits in between are hilarious. I have never heard Prince act so goofy.

Anyone else have this and like it or not like it?

i'm okay with it - there are a couple of songs i like and i enjoy the cover art a lot, but i hate segues (they ruin the flow of the music) and i'm not crazy about sonny's vocals. i don't think it's crap, though. it just hasn't hit me.

Sonny's vocals sound better than I thought they would.

oh God I hate New Power Soul! the music is whack and is such a cacophony of sunds. I tried to like it but I just can not get into it. And I've said 100 times, the only reason I keep it is for The One.

I was worried about it sounding like NPS, but it's definitely tighter.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I absolutely LOVE this album!

The band is flat-out great, The production is what TGE should have sounded like. (It's big and has alot going on, but still feels "live". It is loud, angry, funky, and melodic.

"The Exodus Has Begun" is amazing.

I love "Count the Days" but I can hardly play it around friends cause of the F-bombs:)

let's c here ..funky music contains the same horn line from the original demo of it back in 1982..(rehased idea)

when u love somebody contains a guitar riff from mayte's album from the song ain't no place like u

title track ..do we even need 2 go there with the same name? or the fact that it contains the chant from big fun?

essentially nps is an ok album with rehashed material where as Exodus is fresh with ideas from a better backing band.

but again, u have u'r opinion and that's cool with me

That song is the closest he's ever come to Clinton's funk. It's an amazing jam. Play it top of your speakers and it takes you to another funkin' place.

cool

Have it, love it.

u r correct lol ..which push it up is really the revamped version of the jam of the year remix that was played only in clubs during the aftershows

Love this disc. Everyone I've turned on to it has also. I made a special copy w/o the segues and the Chery song. In many ways, this is CD delivers on the promise of The Black Album.

I bought the album back in 1995 and thought back then and still think that it is a masterpiece! Funky as hell!!!

I think one of the reasons why people are disappointed with NPS is that "Exodus" is just that good and NPS simply can't quite keep up with that (although I think it's not as bad as some people make it).

The Exodus Has begun sure is a great track. the guitar solo at the end is crazy. i went thru a weird faze with that album. i like it a lot where as New Power Soul sounds dated to me. it's very representative of the era it came out in.
