you're on my page vinx, if i had to pick ONE from TRC, Musicology, and 3121, (the only releases from the 00s right; not counting NEWS or npgmc stuff; none of which i have btw) She Loves Me for Me gets my vote. great arragement, vocals, melody. it can stand up with 80s stuff because its different from that stuff but still really good. Love, The Dance, and The Word are close seconds.

This would have been my second choice though I like The Rainbow Children, IMO the essential 00's Prince could be condensed down to a double A side, Black Sweat/She Loves Me For Me...

Call My Name in a landslide. I don't dislike his 00s music as much as find it pretty dull though. Loved the 80s and 90s stuff. Glug, glug like a mug

Muse 2 The Pharaoh and Musicology. how come musicology doesn't get any love here, it's such a kickass song. new to funk, naive in every way

If it wasn't for the words, it might go down as a classic for me. well i can see how the first verse would annoy people. but surely the second verse couldn't be that much of a problem for people? Brilliant, complex and thought provoking song. The piano arrangement fits the lyrics and themes perfectly. His vocals are haunting. The first verse shocks you into examining the rest of the song which is about coming to terms with our horrible history. Racism continues because of a lack of an honest dialogue. Historical myths and truths. Simply beautiful. This song is truly underrated and underexamined.

For me, by far the most amazing Prince moment of this decade was seeing him perform "Reflection" with Wendy. That is such a beautiful, heartfelt song... It would have to be my pick.
I'd put "3121" up there as well. Sounds like something from 86 or 87, only updated. "Musicology" and "3121" are both far stronger overall than his Rave/NPGMC-period material, IMHO. I also love "The Last December", and "She Loves Me 4 Me." so for me, it would be something like this: 1 - Reflection 2 - 3121 3 - The Last December 4 - She Loves Me 4 Me 5 - Love 6 - One Nite Alone 7 - Call My Name 8 - Musicology 9 - Fury 10 - The Word OK that's 10... sorry!

Raze said: Dear Mr. Man is generic political cliche after cliche. Just a bunch of whining when you get down to it, whether the complaints are valid or not.
My pick for best song of this decade is probably "The Word," even if it's not necessarily the one I enjoy most. So true what you say about Dear Mr.Man

cuz it aint a hit...it was a james brown retread yeah, so was lotsa 80's stuff, but then it was considered genius. new to funk, naive in every way
