I'll most likely never believe it unless he admitted it to my face. Along with so many other rumors I've heard. That's why I try not to pay attention all that much.

It just kinda struck a nerve for me when I heard that from my parents. my dad's a Prince fan... he encouraged me to get into him by showing "Purple Rain" 2 me... I don't think he believes that Prince's talent came from w/e drugs he took, otherwise he wouldn't encourage him as much.

Then again... he's a lot more talented than anyone else I've ever listened to b4 him.
There's always the possibility I guess, but based on the mixed reactions here, I'm just gonna move on and not pay too much attention to it.

If he was ever high on anything, it was probably just his own ego.

Control freak that he is, I can't see Prince making a habit of using drugs, alcohol, or anything that would diminish that.

I don't smoke or do drugs - but I do drink some wine -not often though...I can't handle being anyother way. I might have a glass or two of wine while I'm eating out somewhere but it all just depends on what type of mood I'm in...But no, never drugs or smoke...

Let me be clear, i dont believe that Prince is addicted to drugs severly, or very vulnerable for drug addiction in the way people like Keith Richards or Ozzy Osbourne seem to be.

But the way this subject is often treated in here, doesnt deserve a beauty award.

I mean, i often have the feeling people are 'in denial' on this subject, because they are blinded by idolesation of the 'human' Prince, and fan worship of the 'human' Prince.

Its like they are blocking out the things they don't want to hear, because it might bring their believe in 'the artist' Prince down. Its unneccesary fear.

Personally i think Prince has tried out different kind of drugs: Coke in the eighties, XTC (the infamous Black Album story), and maybe he was addicted to painkillers or vitamines in the nineties.

But in fact, it doesn't even matter of he did or didn't use these substances, what is more important: SO WHAT?
I mean, i think everyone in here has experience with drugs, i dont necessary mean i expect all kind of (former) drugaddicts in here, but everyone in here has sometimes drank too much (yes, alcohol is also a drug, a hard-drug even), smoked a joint, or popped a pill. Even if it was only for once.
So, what do you expect from Prince then: is he the 'artist' that sings "My voice is so clear, because i dont have smack in my brain" and do you praise him for that remark, like he is some kind of saint, or do you look trough that idolesation, and see Prince 'the human', a man like you and me, who probably has been drinking too much sometimes, or should have stayed off stage after snorring coke?

I hope youre getting my point.

I don't believe he ever did drugs! He has said in interviews he couldn't stand seeing his brother get high because he acted so stupid.

People have always and will always try to find something negative because they figure he can't seem that together and not have something in his closet besides tailor made clothes.

Some of the greatest artists used drugs and made some of their best work on drugs.

some of the best legendary peformances was when musicians were high

joe cocker ,santana and jimi hendrix were druged very muchat woodstock '69 but they nailed it

I don't know why pople cannot digest the fact that Prince is clean. That he does not do drugs should be considered a great achievement and not otherwise as some people seem to believe. The only drug Prince has had is herbal tea.
