P. Control's opening (somebody's already mentioned it, no need to repeat) is definitely up there. At first listen, it threw me... the first time I heard Prince curse... well, except for the time he dropped the MF bomb in "Purple Rain".
For some reason now, it makes me laugh when I heard him throw MF into his lyrics. It sure caught my attention, one of the more memorable openings.

But "Dearly Beloved..." still gets my vote as the best.

It never fails to put a smile on my face. When I saw the video for the first time, I only caught the very beginning of the speech.

But now I hear it all the time when I play either my dad's PR album or my "Very Best of..." disc (they didnt cut it down at all... unlike "Doves", still fuming over that mad )

I get unusually happy and goofy when I hear him say A word of neverending happiness, you can always see the sun. Day or night Like, "aww, you can always see the sun"...

Sorry, I get all mushy over that line every time.

My favs (most of which have already been mentioned)...

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today 2 get through this thing called life"

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, boys and muthafuckin' girls
This is your captain with no name speakin' and I'm here 2 rock your world"

"Shut up already, damn!"

"I just can't believe all the things people say
Am I black or white, am I straight or gay?"

"Are U ready?.... Yaaaaahhhhh
Picked up my paper 2day, give U one guess what they say"

"Don't worry, I won't hurt U, I only want U 2 have some fun"

"Waaaaahhhhh....Naaaoo!.... Club mix, club mix,
How can I put this in a way so as not 2 offend or unnerve?"

Some of my faves have already been posted, but I love this:

Style is not something that comes in a bottle
Style is more like Jackie O. when she was doin' Aristotle
Style is not a logo that sticks 2 the roof of one's ass
Style is like a second cousin 2 class
lol

Oh, and how could I forget...

Baby, baby, baby
What's it gonna be
Baby, baby, baby
Is it him or is it me?

And my favorite song:

How beautiful do the words have to be before they conquer every heart?
How will you know if I'm even in the right key if you make me stop before I start?

Yeah, "Let's Go Crazy" pretty much has to be the greatest opening, although all the suggestions here are great! One of my favorite lines (opening or otherwise) is the intro to "Moonbeam Levels":

"Yesterday I tried to write a novel but I didn't know where to begin,
so I laid down in the grass and tried to feel the world turn"

I always thought that was such a cool, poetic line. Genius.

In France, a skinny man died of a BIG disease with a little name
by chance his girlfriend came across a needle and soon she did the same

a hard reality check at a time when lyrics were mostly of the category "LA LA LA HE HE I love you, you love me" and political and social issues were certainly not hot or hip. Well it's worse now...

How about the scream at the beginning of "Daisy Chain"?
(Then the voice says: Scream one more time... scream one more time...) and he screams again!
lol

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."
