I've never been so proud to be a Prince fan. I watched the show with my mom, who's nearing 70. She thought he was great, but worried someone was going to be hurt the whole time. What a true professional! This was something magical and I wouldn't be a bit surprised for him to experience another "comeback". Actually, this was the most electrifying and mass appeal type of performance since Purple Rain the movie.

I noticed the lightening... I think twice. I too thought it was real..... but it was perfectly timed (I can not recall when it was).
It was so perfectly timed.....I wondered was it real lightening or effects.

Shelby's tambourine was '3121'. otherwise, yeah, i'd say restraint for a crowd that wouldn't have any clue wtf it is. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I thought, "Oh oh...this isn't a good start". Thankfully the rest of the performance made forget all about the cheesy lightening effects at the beginning. Yeah,I forgot about the lightening. I thought it was cute. So Anx has to get some doves on a stick and some lightening in a can "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

Also, Prince's hair and makeup remained flawless during the performance which brought a tear to my eye as well Woulda been nice if he debuted a hot new song though, but whatever! Im happy! Exactly, the rain added so much to the performance. We have to remember you are given a small time frame to blow people away. And think about the crowd, those are people that paid for a football NOT A PRINCE CONCERT, so he has to hit them with something they are familar with. Whether we think he played it safe, the truth is its a blessing to have him walk on a stage 30 years after his career began with more energy than ever. I couldn't agree more. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

i liked it!! thought he performed great with the old favorites, and i enjoyed his covers, especially Best Of You. and he's such a master on that guitar.
all in all, good on you prince! There is no perfect place

I thought for sure he'd slip a lil James Brown in there. But I think that would have been a lil sad [Edited 2/4/07 20:33pm] "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

It was so perfectly timed.....I wondered was it real lightening or effects. I don't think the lighting was real---pyrotechnics. Maybe from blimps overhead? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I thought it was a Great Performance!!!
And the rain in some ways made it better. I thought there were some audio problems on his Purple Rain solos but that may have been my TV or the rain. I loved the stage. Prince is more and more using his "symbol" again and it works wonderfully. It adds more mystery which is fun. The stage looked like a space ship. I kept expecting it to lift-off. Those long stadium shots of the symbol stage all lit up is what I will remember. An extremely cool stage, Prince performing great, the rain, and the audience going crazy. A truly beautiful moment. I am sure Prince will get great press from this too. A classy peformance in bad weather and a new single all in the same weekend. And if there is a tour this year it would be great to see a show "in the round" again using that Symbol stage. That would be so much fun. Cheers, Chris

from what I understand, they don't make much, it's all about the exposure and the NFL/producers pick up the cost of the stage, etc. as far as being electrocuted- wireless packs are battery powered....rain doesn't help keep the guitars in tune but that's the biggest risk. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

So tomorrow I will just stare at all my friends who BUSTED on me and my love His Royal Purpleness, crackin on his orange suit, saying they were glad I have a 50" TV b/c I'd never be able to SEE him otherwise, BLAH BLAH BLAH, and I will graciously receive all their apologies. BECAUSE THAT WAS AWESOME! I think many of us feel rather like a mom or dad who feels their favorite kid never gets any respect, and then they just win the game at the buzzer with a nuttin-but-net lob from mid-court! THAT'S RIGHT!
And the lightening was a TV effect--don't think it was visible to the fans on site. Perhaps we can get that cleared up by someone who was there. Notice how the shot went wide JUST AT THAT MOMENT. I really do think it was computer added for the TV fans. Can't wait for my 2/24 3121 trip! WOOOOO HOOOOO!
