Prince killed it so hard. I'm still in shock by it! I'm happier than a pig in mud!
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

LOVED IT! Was exactly what that kind of performance should be. Taught those who aren't fans that he is also a Rock star. A covers were a great way to teach the lesson.

It inspired my 65-year-old parents and brother and sister-in-law, who are all not Prince fans to plan a trip to Vegas.

Yippee!!!

It also inspired my roommate (whose a succesfull musician in his own right) to plan a trip to Vegas. Everyone at my house today was like: WTF! He rocks!

It made me feel special (god knows why) but I felt like I had been in on a secret that they just recently discovered.

Can someone please tell the order of songs that were played ?

We Will Rock You (Queen) w/what sounded like a bit of Madhouse 13 rock this mutha pre-recorded

then:
Let's Go Crazy (w/hohner and just a bit of "goooo crazy/go go go")
intro to 1999 (FAMU marches onto field)
Baby I'm a Star (no guitar, FAMU band backing him; he ad libs, "Somebody take my picture with all this rain in sight")
Proud Mary featuring Shelby Johnson
end of Baby I'm a Star
All Along the Watchtower/Best of You (w/blue Stratocaster, also w/Shelby)
Purple Rain (w/the Habibi)

I can't really tell who was in the band, but I'm guessing Cora, Josh, Renato, Mr. Hayes and Shelby. Luckily the Twinz did not have access to microphones and were restricted to frenetic twitching only.

Not bad considering the conditions. Twins and Marching Band seemed under-rehearsed for dance moves.

Just seems a shame that of the three Prince songs performed they all come from Purple Rain. Kind of affirms the prejudice that he hasn't done much else of note in 20+ years...

I loved the show. P totally rocked the house. I saved it on my cable box, so I'll probably watch it again. I also still have his SNL performance from last year saved. Love both of those shows. I wish Prince would tour near Kansas City, once Vegas is over and done.

The show rocked. I loved hearing "Baby I'm a Star." It is one of my favorite songs in his catalog. The opening of "Let's Go Crazy" was beyond perfect. It set a great mood for the rest of his set. And did anyone else TOTALLY dig his stage? smile

OMG!!!!! That performance was freaking AMAZING!!!

The only problem that I saw was the band. Did anybody notice that they looked confused when the camera was on some of them. Some of them were looking at the other people 4 the next move. Im guessing not alot of time 2 practice.

But of course the main thing 2 watch was Prince and man did he pull it off. Speaking of pulling off, I was soo happy he pulled that thing off his head. He must not have seen my note on here when I said 4 him NOT 2 wear that harriet tubman free the slave thing on his hair. Mayb he got a message n a hidden ear piece telling him that I had said 2 take it off, that is y he did.

Once again though, great performance. Look out Super Bowl 42 performer, u have 2 follow that!!

Probably the best SB performance I've seen. He used the space well, the marching band was a great addition. He did the songs that the SB audience would know and enjoy. The fireworks and the rain just added to the performance. My only issue was that big woman in the white leotard and cape. WTF was that???

Yep...first time I ever bothered to watch a halftime show, and Prince didn't let me down.

I'm glad he didn't play the new stuff - give me the classics anyday!

Oh, remind me (again) what's so great about the FAMU Marching 100? Because from what I saw, they certainly did not bring it.

anyone who didn't enjoy that needs to check their pulse i think.

like i said on another thread, some people have no respect for the amount of work that goes into it, not to mention playing in the rain, water on your guitar strings, in heels, ... gimme a break!

he rocked it... sheesh, we got purple rain IN THE RAIN in front of millions worldwide... what else do you want?! i don't know how numbed out some of you must be, but i certainly felt it!

AWESOME PERFORMANCE!!!!! Yeah, it was raining like crazy and P. still ripped it! I loved how he was just killing it on the guitar throughout....Best part of the performance for me was the "Along The WatchTower/Best of U" (AWESOME) and "Purple Rain"....I ain't gonna lie, "Purple Rain" really moved me. I've seen him do it live and on TV performances and if his guitar solo on that song doesn't move you then there is something wrong with you. The silhouette (spelling?) effect when he did the guitar solo on "Purple Rain" was THE BOMB. Best SuperBowl performance EVER.....all the Prince haters can now officially shut the F up. I hope he makes "Best Of U" available to buy cuz his version is incredible.....Mad Respect 2 Prince...He's proven once again that he's a living legend/genius. Like a lot of you guys, I'm damn proud 2 be a Prince fan.

Solid performance all the way through. Thought the do-rag looked ridiculous but that's besides the point. Great guitar work, as usual.
No hard feelings.

KIcked ass until his guitar level dropped at the end of Purple Rain. Surprised noone else picked up on that, must have blown a speaker or something. I thought
his performance was OUTSTANDING!!! So what if it was predictable, it's always a treat for me.
