On a scale of 1-10, a 9.

P was the perfectionist as usual. Song choice was predicatable (LGC & PR). The twins were a little limited due to the rain, so I can understand their limited choreography. They were not terrible.

The rain was a downer of sorts since it sapped the energy of the show (IMHO). I really wished I got my ass to take the three hour drive down to Miami to be part of the festivities.

Great job P. smile

It didn't rain on Prince. It rained for him.
Perfection in the rain. Couldn't have been better.

That was sweet wasn't it? And I was freaking out over the rain lol
It was. Dramatic too. And he looks good in the rain. He's got to do a rain scene in a future video.

It was beautiful... and i can't believe somebody said it was to much fireworks and lighting effects... Has this person ever watched a halftime show before... Prince had no more that past performers... That's what they do during halftime..

as spinal tap as it was, i LOVED THAT STAGE!!!! lol

i'm very impressed that he did a set that was totally appropriate for the mainstream/non-fan masses, but here i am, a veteran fammyfam who's seen a dozen shows and countless bootlegs, and i'm eating the halftime show UP. bow

it didn't matter that we've heard it all before. ol' boy pulled it off like a pro. better than a pro.

i'm gonna go down to pier one tomorrow and see if they have some of those dove-on-a-stick things. i want some to put on my ceiling fan.

For what usually happens, Prince needed to bring that extra oomph with the pyro and I'm glad he did. Besides, he's hasn't had any of that stuff in his shows in years so it's about time that he did something that elaborate again in his stage shows.

I think to get a performance out like that in those weather conditions is a testament to the professionalism (and talent) of Prince and his band.

But he did appear tense for LGC certainly, and the guitar work seemed a little rushed throughout (like Fury at the BRITS as opposed to the performance of it on SNL), not quite up to the standard we know he's capable of.

Nice to see him throw in some covers there to mix it up a bit - although only PR album originals (1999 riff excepted) - another big hit from another time in his career would be nice for these big shows (like the Grammies and Brits).

That's a lot of songs to squeeze into such a short time. And damnit, I wanted to see him throw his guitar away at the end!

I'm guessing that scarf went on his head because of the rain - but it looked like it was coming apart - a brave move to just throw it off near the end. Has anybody seen Prince's hair less styled than during Purple Rain?

Ok, I've watched it again and I take it back - this was an AWESOME performance. I think I was just nervous watching it the first time that something was going to go wrong because of the rain.

However, is it just me - or does he get some lyrics wrong (in the wrong place) on Let's Go Crazy (as he did for that morning TV show in NYC last year)?

I thought it was just ...ehh? kinda cheesy and predictable for the most part...kinda lame...the most interesting part was Watchtower/Best of You...but other than that, lame...

and just so you don't think i'm just hating to be hating i DID really like the Press Conference performance...THAT kicked this halftime performances ass by a longshot...The Press Conference performance actually got me hyped that the halftime show would be really blazing too...but nope. too heavy on the cheese instead...

We should all feel damn lucky that Prince has stayed around this long for us to enjoy. I've been a fan for 26 years, it's been a great ride, and from the way he looked tonight, it'll probably go on for another 20.

No shit! I had friends from all over the country calling and texting me, cause they now Ive beena fan since high school. It felt good that he pulled it off well. He is still the best!

10/10, utterly fantastic!!

Our boy totally blew everyone away, it seems - It was an outstanding, emotional performance. I even got a little teary eyed when PR started... as rain poured down from above.

I was getting texts and calls from friends everywhere who were stunned by how fantastic the performance was - And all I could do was respond with "That's Prince for ya." biggrin

KIcked ass until his guitar level dropped at the end of Purple Rain. Surprised noone else picked up on that, must have blown a speaker or something. I thought
his performance was OUTSTANDING!!! So what if it was predictable, it's always a treat for me.

At the Velvet Rope forums (a message board for music industry pros), it was mentioned that the wireless on Prince's guitar went out during "Purple Rain" due to the weather. By the way, a lot of those guys don't like Prince because of dealings they've had with him over the years, but most of them are raving about the performance.

Once again, Prince cemented his place as THE GREATEST LIVE PERFORMER IN THE GAME!!! No one has EVER killed the Superbowl like that.
My man tore it up in the rain!! excited I am in awe of how flawless his playing was in the rain! bow

I was worried about the rain and the substitution of a taped performance. But I know my man too well, I knew he would not pass up a chance to show the world the way he puts it down live!

I was so moved to see and hear the FAMU Band playing his music. I was just struck thinking about how far he has come. Prince's evolution as a musician has been a beautiful thing to experience. I am so proud of him. My 25 years as a fan have been well spent!

THANK YOU PRINCE!!! clapping
