I'll put in my own two cents (for some reason, the forum acted up and my post came up blank).

I used to compare Michael Jackson and Prince to each other because they came around the same time, have similar looks, but different kinds of music. Michael Jackson does mostly pop/rock, but Prince is much more versatile and he sounds good in pretty much everything he does. I like his 80's rock (Little Red Corvette) as well as some of his 90's stuff (Kiss), then there's a little bit of big band (Musicology) and a little bit of funk...
Michael is just like a lot of other musicians, he's given music and he performs it on stage.
Prince has a way of making his stuff always sound impressive. I seen him do Purple Rain a bunch of times and it still sounds great. He's more spontaneous and always has something new to offer.
Michael has come up with nothing good in forever... I don't even like anything after Thriller and Billy Jean... 80's Michael and the present Michael are two different people. I'd like to say that the 80's Michael was abducted by aliens and replaced with a clone. Like mentioned a few times, his personal life overshadows his career.
Prince is a true musician that calls all of the shots and does EVERYTHING from producing, songwriting, guitar playing, dancing, you name it. And he has the soul of a true musician, which is why I respect him as much as I do.

In the past I have been an MJ fan and now I am a Prince fan, but I really do think that it is unfair to compare the two in anyway. What, because they are two black artist they should be compared that way? What I'm trying to say is that they are both extremely different. Prince's style is so versatile to so many things. He's good at what he does: fantastic guitarist, innovative songwriter and producer, and just being the funk-king that he is. Just because Michael Jackson's personal life is in shambles doesn't mean that he never had talent. He was good at what he did: dancing, singing (when he could), the short films. They are both legends and in a class of their own. Just because people were around in the same era does not mean that they should forever be compared. It's like comparing apples and oranges.These guys are both electrifying and dynamic performers. I respect them both, and I think more people should start doing that instead of comparing them all the time.

While on the surface they are(or more so were in the 80's) very simular.In my opinion,Prince is clearly the superior.While both have had their highs and lows...Prince handled his much better.When it comes to music,yes Michael has had more commercial success but he could never dream of taking half of the musical risks that Prince has taken over the years.That's one of the biggest differences right there.

I think time has shown what differences Prince is all about as an individul and what differences Michael is all about as an individual and will only continue to do so in the years to come...I hope!

People,people stop the insanity. There is no way that you can compare Prince toMJ, cause there is no comparsion. Yes,in one way Prince can not mess with MJ,But in another way MJ can not mess with Prince.They enterntain in two different ways. Now if you want keep comparing Prince to MJ then you might as well start comparing Prince to JB,and we all know that in his prime, JB would have kicked Prince's ass no doubt. But You can not,cuz they entertain in two different ways. If you want to compare Prince to anybody compare him to people that does the same thing he does.People that play their own music,who compose their music, arrange their own music, and that has the same insight into music as Prince does. Start comparing him to someone like Rick James ,Stevie Wonder,Jimi,Ray charles,Billy Joel,Bruce Springsteen,Elton John,John Lennon,Eric Clapton,Stevie Ray Vaughn,Tom Petty,Barry White,Paul McCarthy,B.B King,Miles Davis John Coltrane. These are the people that he has the most in common with not MJ.

Prince is totally better when it comes to songwriting/musicianship/creativity.

I'll tell you what Michael Jackson can't do... he can't keep up his musical career with the same success that Prince has.

For 100's of reasons, Prince is superior to Michael Jackson, in fact, there's no contest.

They both have a tendency to be a little eccentric at times, but they really don't compare. Prince specializes in playing instruments and Micheal does the dancing. They both write, but Prince's lyrics are waay better IMO. Micheals been famous since he was 10, so he has Prince beat in that area. They were both big in the 80s, but so were alot of artist. Micheal has had a whole lot more legal trouble than Prince and seems to be more hounded by the media. If they had grown up together, they might have become good friends, because they are about the same age and they both love music. Can you see Prince and MJ hanging out together?

When it comes to Prince, I have several preconceived notions based on what I know about him and his music. (him I know quite a bit, his music, not so much as of yet). I think ever since I could remember, I always thought that Prince was invincible. I still do. I believe that he has an unmeasurable amount of things to offer to the music-seeking public.

As they said on the "100 Greatest Songs of the 80's", Michael Jackon's life has overshadowed his career, so I really don't see a future for him in the industry.

Prince is invincible in my eyes because no matter what laid before him, he always found a way to get through it. In this case, I'm of course speaking about his feud with WB during his years as , and that helped build his character and made him that much stronger a musician and person.

I doubt Michael could pull that off.

I wish MJ and Prince would start hanging with each other and shit, just to stop all this crap. But, sometimes this crap is fun, so here is my stab at calculating who is better...
