prince versus prince New to the org but a fan since 'Contoversy'.
Question: On 'The Truth' P sings that the only competition he has is himself in the past. So, if you compare 5 live performances from different periods in his career - let's say 1999, SOTT, Diamonds & Pearls, Gold and Musicology - which Prince would rule? Consider musicianship, vocals, dancing and command of the stage/presence.

1979-1989 Prince wins. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Younger Prince would win if it more a martial arts type contest, because when he could do the splits back then & therefore more adept to that crazy- Matrix style of combat.
However, if it was just straight up fisticuffs, the older Prince's experience might give him the upper hand. Either way , I think it would be a fight to the finish.

I feel like I'm the least qualified person here to answer this question.
I've spent a lot of time with current (Musicology/3121) Prince this week and haven't even attempted to compare him to 80's Prince. It's too much for me to process, at least right now. I guess it kind of depends on what kind of genres you prefer and if you value wisdom or talented young genius. I've got no idea who I prefer at this point because I haven't spent enough time in the past. I've been soaking in the wisdom and mystifying presence of the Prince we have today... it's intoxicating, but I'm lovin' it. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I love that front cover of 'musician' from the 80's that has prince on it with the caption 'Prince, an artist at war with himself'
Awesome cover. | |
