Look.....Prince can go into a recording studio by himself with no one else in the room. Come out a few days later with a complete album written, arranged, produced and played by HIMSELF. Mj CANNOT accomplish that feat.

I'm a huge Michael fan; he was the first artist I ever got into. He's the reason I even listen to music or enjoy dancing. Plus, his music and actions helped me through hard times and inspired me to make motions that vastly improved my life. No one will ever top him in my mind. He set countless benchmarks in the music industry, and is an incredible person; both as an entertainer and as a human. He just can't be topped in my mind.

To be honest, it took a while for Prince to warm on me. However, his sheer artistic genius won me over. His music is so varied and individualistic; I have immense respect for him as an artist. He really is an artistic genius. Plus, I love his eccentricities.

I suppose I have about equal respect for the both of them. Michael is just my favorite, no questions asked. And yes, I'm biased.

This is and always be a good topic of conversation: a buddy of mine used to have these types of debates. He was Mike's booster and I was P's.

Michael is a great performer. His stage presence is remarkable. When they were both out and hot, Mike had Prince beat. He sold more records and made more loot than anybody in the 80's and early 90's. These are things that can't be refuted. It also hurt Prince because of the sexual and adult nature of his music and shows. Mike was G rated. Prince was R.


Prince is the better musician, no doubt. His concerts are more to my tastes because of his band and live instrumentation. That fact allows him to keep making music while Mike has to get help.

Mike is arguably the better performer because of the whole dancing deal but somehow P puts on a better concert.

If it were a best of 7, Prince in 4.

they're both great although I prefer mj way more than prince. Besides I like most of mj's stuff from 1970 through present while with prince it's only before 1992 and a handful after that.

however I gotta respect a man who plays most of his instruments and writes his own stuff most of the time without co-writing with hot producers also.

Michael's success pretty much came from collaborating with hot producers, songwriters, and musicians. Prince on the otherhand, success came mainly from his own talent.To me it's like asking which student is better, the one who has someone to do most of his homework and get straight A's or the one who does his own homework by himself and gets B's. Prince of course

Prince obviously. No not because I'm a jaded fan. Prince can play all his instruments, write all his music and lyrics and sing. I'm sure Michael can play a little bit of the piano but produce by himself. I'm not sure.

As a composer, an arranger and someone who knows how to bring his ideas, the sounds in his head to reality, Michael is great in his own right, no doubt about that. Remember he was very young when he wrote "Shake Your Body On To The Ground" and several others. Great talent. Irving Berlin could hardly play piano but that didn't stop him from becoming on of the best songwriters ever, Elvis could only play rudimentary rhythm guitar and he deservedly goes down in the annals of history. Genius and talent don't always come with a full package. It just so happens Prince had the extraordinary work ethic and the talent to do it all. I'm sure if Michael had wanted to, he could have learned to play too.
