YOU can be a part of the Super Bowl Stage Crew! Yes, it's true. YOU can be a part of Prince's Volunteer Stage Crew for the Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show. 41 Productions is currently seeking approximately 600 men and women, willing to volunteer their time and assist us in the production. It will be an experience you will never forget!
Both the Pregame and Halftime shows use modular stage and lighting units that are on wheels. They are pushed out onto the field, assembled, and readied for the artists to perform on. After the performance, they are broken down and wheeled out of the stadium. Volunteers need to be over the age of 18, and in good physical condition. No prior production experience is necessary. Though participants will NOT be on the field during the game, they WILL be on the field during their respective show segment (Pregame or Halftime), and they will be an integral part of the show production. You will need to be in the South Florida area for our rehearsals, which begin on Wednesday, January 24. The big game is Sunday, February 4. For complete rehearsal schedules, details, and a volunteer form, please visit our website at: http://www.superbowlproductions.com

[Edited 12/18/06 11:21am] i wasn't making any reference to prince. i was simply stating that the superbowl brings in millions upon millions of dollars (advertising money, merchandise money, you name it) and yet they are still asking people to work for free. it is just astounding to me. isn't that how slave owners stayed rich?

I would so do this! Does anyone in FL want a house guest for a week?
I'm not very strong though, do you think that would be a problem? Wait, what am I saying! I can push and lift heavy objects for Prince! [Edited 12/18/06 11:49am] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Okay, I see your point and respect your opinion...but the difference between today and the past....is that they're not forcing anyone to do this, so the decision is up to the volunteer. well the fact is in this case if you did work there and then asked to be paid they would (even if you had to sue) HAVE to pay you. you can only volinterr fot non-prpofit orginiztions. check the 13th. Amendment

oh my goodness gracious, i was not comparing the superbowl ethics to slavery. i was simply pointing out that the business owners (NFL,etc) will be getting rich(er) and not even paying for some of the labor.

??? 13th amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States" Says nothing about "voluntary".

??? 13th amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States" Says nothing about "voluntary". yes i know... but it has been applied to cases where people agreed to work for free and then sued and won. unless it is for charity... the organizers would lose.

Hey wait a minute... ...did we just take the author's thread from ..looking for volunteers...to the rich getting richer…..to something about profiting from slavery.....to being forced to work vs. willfully volunteering.....to hey if I volunteer I'll make you pay me or I'll sue you, just watch me, my lawyer's on the phone.....to the 13th amendment...to voluntary vs. involuntary...to charity/non-profit organizations....to cases where volunteers worked, sued and organizers lost?
(j/k...just making light of this thread.. ) [Edited 12/18/06 19:08pm]

Trust me, I'd love to help Prince erect his, uhrm...set.
But I can't make it South Florida at the appointed time. Call me when he comes to Dallas. "Plaid shorts are completely over."

how long will Princes set be?
10mins ? 15 mins? Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
