Very good article, points very well made and very intelligently written (or edited by a third party). But the "Prince speak" IS somewhat distracting from the point. 2's, b's and 4's are ok on an album sleeve or an NPGMC email, but when raising important issues with some very serious substance, he should really try and refrain from it. It aint English, its slang. And slang aint gonna win him any favours when it comes to raising the issues with the people that count. But that aside, he made some excellent points about the state of conglominates and corporate big-wigs that control and manipulate the markets for the sheer greed of share holder's interests. Good points about the hypocricy these corporations apply to their business ventures too. AOL and WB being a case in point. Keep speaking up Prince, but please, speak up in correct English... It can only help the cause.

the princebonics make the excellently written and thought out arguements of the article harder 2 xpose 2 a mass audience...(who desprately need 2 hear it)...they will focus on the eccentric spelling rather than the content...which is sad being that this piece has an xcellent point...

Whether or not the purpose of "BoycottRIAA.com" is defensible, is ultimately a personal opinion.
But whether or not Prince/NPGMC has given permission to ENTIRELY reprint and re-publish this article on this site is an entirely different matter and disputable. First, Nowhere do they mention they have obtained this permission. Second, They say "written by Prince", when in fact the NPGMC's commentary pages does NOT claim that these articles are "written by Prince". They claim they are "NPG commentaries". Once again, whether or not the purpose of this re-publishing can be defended, the question whether or not they have obtained the necessary permission and credited the correct author(s) is a different one and disputable. - [This message was edited Fri Aug 30 7:59:11 PDT 2002 by Abrazo] You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Yes, it is an interesting article by Prince.
He's really taking this A.H.T.C. (artist having total control) thing 2 the maximum. I guess that he wants artist(s) 2 go his path. Or does he want the use of anything...shall I say binding 2 an artist 2 completely be wiped out? I don't know, I mean, I understand where he is coming from, but he wrote so much (and I skimmed): What is the main idea? And did the website get his permission 2 print this? &

Well they didn't change the content of the text, but the deep-links in the original texts, that bring you to the sources NPG used, are gone. Those are essential in finding out what "facts/figures and opinions" NPG themselves refer to. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Extremely well written essay there Princey.
I couldnt care less about the Princebonics myself. Ive read so much stuff with Princebonics in them that Im used 2 it by now. But under the article the little fued about the way Prince presented the essay with his writing style is really funny. "...because no-one gets there alone." - "...I like the floor. It's the only thing that seems real."

Prince is Prince, has been for years. WHY should the content of the article be ignored b/c he uses a "2" instead of "to"???
DUMB SHIT I know what you mean about it possibly being less appealing to the masses b/c of the Prince-speak, but consider this post: posted by "thethinker" I can't believe that anyone would read this incredible essay and be so ignorant as to focus in on the format over the context. Your inability to appreciate his originality and creative choices is the root of the sheep-like behavior that the message embodies. You should be ashamed of your self. It's this same lack of heart and individuality that has caused us to be a world caught in distraction and lack of substance over true spiritual meaning and creative relevance. Great leaders like Martin Luther King would be disapointed in what our world has become. EXCELLENT POINT...

Good stuff. I like that P writes these essays lately. He's a better writer than he gives himself credit for. He should get CJ ousted from the StarTrib and start his own column. (But if he wants people to take him seriously, and I mean people besides us, he should not do the O U 8 1 2 crap.)
