I really love the Batman OST. I never tire of it. The future. The Electric Chair. Scandalous. Brilliant Vicky waiting. I would have to choose Controversy. I love the track but of all the 80's albums I skip over it. It has the awful Ronnie Talk to russia after all. Muck song. I can never forgive it.

I'd say Purple Rain if it hadn't had "Darling Nikki" and "The Beautiful Ones" on it.

I'm gonna say Lovesexy.
The only song on there that I really love is "Anna Stesia"

The cold "old Prince" would have probably continued for the rest of the 1980s

Which would've made him as boring and forgettable in the end as all those other 80's artists we're no longer talking about.

Other than "Kiss", "Adore", and a few other songs, he's basically been forgettable to the general public since "Purple Rain", except for "Raspberry Beret" which everyone refers to as when he "first lost his damn mind". Just this very evening, I was out in the hall and a co-worker asked me where I was going. I said "back in the office". He said to another co-worker, "he's probably going on the internet to that Prince site". The other co-worker said "Prince ain't been shit since Purple Rain". He said "I know that's right".

As for the other 80s artists being forgotten or not talked about, check the "Music: Non-Prince" section. They are talked about all the time. They are also played on the old school stations, along with Prince's songs before "Purple Rain".

I'd get rid of Lovesexy if Batman was not a choice. But otherwise, Batman of course!
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire

Controversy. Surprisingly easy decision, for me at least.

Batman would be a runner up, but since I can't live without "The Future," I'll spare it.

Batman, obviously (love electric chair, but I can live w/o it). Next up would b PR - much as I'd hate losing Beautiful Ones, it would also mean no more TMWU and PR per4mances!!!! Yay! (But the Baby I'm a Star jams would b gone forever and we'd b left with Get on the Boat, instead....)

buh-bye.

Seriously? Why in the world would u delete THAT album? It's not his best album from the 80's. 1999 is. BUT, out of all of P's album, Purple Rain is what P will be remembered for. What is it that u don't like about this album? I've noticed in the past that you're not crazy about it. I find it kinda interesting.

Oh and my pick; ATWIAD. Hands down. Never should have happened. It sounds hella rushed. The b-sides were better than anything on the actual album. And it also sounded like a cat who had just been thrusted into world wide fame and not really sure how to deal with it. He wanted to drop the trench coat with the studs era, which is cool. But, he didn't have enough top notch material to go in a new direction yet. He did that with UTCM. Hell, The Family's album was better than ATWIAD AND UTCM! P's best album after Purple Rain, was SOTT. And it was uneven as hell. It wasn't cohesive as his earlier 80's albums. SOTT sounded like what it was; A bunch of songs thrown together that came from different aborted projects.

Lyrically, it's good. And to think, it came from 82. Just like "Girl", which was the b-side, of course.

Actually, I hear "U Got the Look" on the radio occasionally. And I hear other songs from Lovesexy, Batman, Graffiti Bridge, etc., on XM radio, too. And just because he wan't as popular after Purple Rain, doesn't mean his music started to suck. Cuz quite the opposite happened.

1987 The Black Album - It was funky but could have easily remained in the vault without ever effecting his career one way or another.

If not Batman, then Controversy. Controversy is not totally essential in terms of growth, and it's not as consistant as Dirty Mind or 1999.

But it's got at least 3 great songs in the title track, Sexuality, & Let's Work that I'd hate to lose.

Who the hell cares about "growth"!? It's got fucking CONTROVERSY on it!!! Are you insane?!
