rolleyes Oh boy.

This is getting absolutely ridiculous, and it stops now.

I've already responded to your org note about this, stating there are FAR more important things going on in the world than worrying about 'who's first' posting something - does it really bother you that much serpan that you have to publicly throw your toys out of your pram when you don't get your own way? I can't understand why you've made it some personal crusade, it's really quite sad. Where's this gonna stop? You'll be saying people who are posting the pictures you posted from getty etc are not allowed to do so next...

If you want to play it like this and keep badmouthing me publiclly for something that's actually not the case, then fine - I can play hardball too. So, for the record: the featured article that is on the homepage was posted in the morning GMT - I should know, I featured it. Your thread was started the afternoon GMT, and as such was locked and redirected. NOT (as you state) the other way around. This is standard proceedure for all dupe threads that are come acorss.

So get off your soap box and sword, your embaressing noone but yourself.

sorry mod, but being 1RST IS the most mportant thing n the world here...now the world out there is a whole different matter.
Prince.Org has been trying 4 years 2 break orgers of it...no sir, not havin' it!
lol
and back n the day ya just let a thread go, and it would die on it's own if noone liked it. ya didn't have 2 lock it ta prove ya point....or did that prove ya point?
ya locked it cause serpan's thread would have been the more popular one?
jez sayin!

and who locks ya'll?

is there a mod supervisor 2 report mods 2?

eye guess not.....BEN!!!!!
lol

Yes there is. He can take it to Ben if it really means that much to him. My point is that the thread in question was submitted as a news article, serpan's was not - I read the article in question as a Yahoo! RSS news feed in my email, and posted it at the same time I authorised the news item, making any sepearate thread mute - it's not the first time it's happened, and I certainly didn't 'take' anything from your thread for the record thanks - that's presumption on your part, and incorect at that. It just makes me laugh when someone gets all 'precious' about something as ridiculously innoccuous as this that they have to go as far as 'claiming' it as their own:

serpan99 said:

So WTF r u trying 2 say that my thread was made later then the repost u made before u fucking locked my thread. U took "my" story 2 parade with it here! And that's not why I make threads here... rolleyes
[Edited 11/10/06 4:41am]

Now that truly IS pathetic - but what surprises me most is according to the grapevine, this isn't the first time you've got your purple panties all up-in-a-bunch over a number of similar situations like this on sister sites is it now serpy?

I responded to your original question via org note in some depth - but YOU were the one who decided to make a mountain out of a molehill, not me. You've taken 2+2 and made it 6, and made out like I have some personal vendetta against you which I can assure you is far from the case. You've taken a simple misunderstanding of my actions and blown it out of all proportion.

To summise: I strongly advise you that any further public discussion of this 'issue' will be snipped, so either take it to org notes or drop it.

Yeah Baby... Isn't that what I said, when everyone was all dissin' hard on Vegas? Sure, now it's like Disneyland, but back in the day... it was R.A.W.

Another article for those that still don't get it (or just refuse to).

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The artist reportedly has taken up residence in one of the Rio's high-roller Palazzo suites, the better to supervise all aspects of Club 3121. His desire to create a total environment - complete with Asian-inflected cuisine prepared by his personal chef, Spago-trained Lena Morgan, and even a scent, a cinnamon and sandalwood blend that wafted through the club - can be fulfilled here, where the outside world gives way to whatever whimsy the casinos impose.

...Even his costumes are consistent from year to year, all playing into a psychedelic vision of childlike pleasure and dreamy elegance, and multiracial pride.

It's already apparent that he hopes to establish that vision at the Rio. The 3121 nightclub, formerly home to an erotic revue, pulsed with a funky soundtrack, including Grandmaster Flash, the Roots and Prince himself, as 12 video screens transmitted a visual history of American dancing, intercut with footage of Prince himself. The restaurant aimed for the feeling of a 1940s jazz palace, but with some of the steakhouse's Italianate decor still in place, it got only halfway there. Eventually, Prince's vision will dominate this corner of the Rio, and Las Vegas may finally have a casino space grounded in African American pride.

With their fairy-tale architecture and all-encompassing flash, casinos encourage visitors to take refuge in their dreams; Prince's live performances, which can turn the coldest sports arena into a utopian dance floor, do something similar. So Vegas makes sense for him. And Vegas is looking for something fleshier: the tangible personalities of established stars, instead of the vague allure of showgirls and spectacle. It's the antidote to all that Cirque: a relatively intimate encounter with a star that many audience members know only from recordings and big shows.

It's not what they're doing wrong, imho they are yawn. I've seen them live twice plus various TV performances and they are usually flat (off-key). Plus their dancing is frenetic and they are out of sync most of the time. Finally, Prince does not need gimmicks, which is what they are. (I could go on, but don't want to jack the thread entirely.)

Prince gave a stellar performance in Vegas on Friday and Saturday night at Club 3121 Las Vegas. He brought down the house. He was very happy and in good spirits. He connected very well with his audience. He told the audience that he loved them and was asking if we were ok and ask how we were feeling. I won't give a setlist since I'm sure it's been posted already. All I have to say is if you get a chance to see Prince and his band in Vegas.....GO. I just got back from Vegas to NYC about 8:32pm tonight, and I have to say I had a GREAAATTT TIIMMME at Club 3121 Las Vegas!

Now when you walk throughout the Rio, you see pictures of Prince all around the casino. I was also lucky to get an item that looked like a maraka (?sp) Not sure if that is what you call it, but it's like a mini-maraka that you shake to music. I do believe Prince only handed out 2 of these, one to me and another fan, which will be another souvenir to add to my Prince collection. Also, Prince gave me and some other fans a "high five!" which was so cool. Now as far as what songs Prince sang during the show, I wouldn't be able to list all the songs so I'll leave it up to someone else who was there who wants to post that information. I'll tell you this though, he sang "Joy in Repetition" with one of the twinz, who sang it very well with him and also did a skit to during the song. He also sang "7" and gave an explanation to the song.

Also members who were part of the former NPG club, were treated very nice by the Club 3121 and Rio staff, the staff handed out bottles of water to the people waiting on line outside the club on Friday, but whether you were a former npg member or not, Prince's staff was very courteous to everyone.

Some of us had our pictures taken from Sam while waiting on line on Friday and Saturday, Sam is part of Prince's staff, and when we were inside the club, Sam put our pictures on the 12 giant screens inside club 3121. When we saw our pictures displayed, of course we cheered. As a matter of fact, when we were first let into the club, not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but on the 12 giant screens (6 on each side) they showed many clips of Soul Train, Beyonce video clips, Jimi Hendrix, Josephine Baker, clips from the movie "Black Orpheus" and other clips of black entertainers/and others from the 60s through the 80s, (can't remember all) but it was almost like a music history lesson so to speak. Then later they added clips of John Travolta from "Saturday Night Live", the Beastie boys and clips from other movies and entertainers.

They also had clips of some of Prince's performances and clips from the movies "Under the Cherry Moon" and "Graffiti Bridge", playing simultaneously, while music from DJ Rashida's booth was playing at the same time...it was nice.

After the show ended, about 2 hours later, the band members were on their way out of the club, and we had a chance to say a few words to Morris Hayes, Cora and Josh. I also got to chat with the Twinz who are very nice and yes they have stepped up their dancing and singing as well.

So if you ever get the oppporutunity to travel to Vegas to see Prince and his band perform at the Club 3121 Las Vegas, then you should go because it is worth it!

P.S. It was nice to see Soulchica, Revelationsunshine, the 2 Prince fans from Italy again (sorry forgot your your names)Also, it was nice meeting Jseven and Housequake, Sistafate and her mom and Sbacon1999<--you were so funny, thanks for the laughs!

Peace!

oh man- if only i were 3 years older man! seriously!!!! if you go with someone who's over 21, then can someone who's under get in?

this news is everywhere- the New York Times even. i'm so excited even though I can't go. it look great-- though i did read one article that said that the restaurant was half-full. here's the article:

-----LAS VEGAS, Nov. 11 — It was not much more than a decade ago that the pop megastar behind classics like “When Doves Cry” and “Purple Rain” seemed intent on shrouding himself in inscrutability, even changing his name to an unpronounceable glyph. Just after midnight on Saturday, though, the artist once again known as Prince declared himself to be curiously, and regularly, available: he began an indefinite run of twice-a-week performances at his own hastily built new nightclub here.
Opening night of Prince’s 3121 club at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
In an energetic two-hour set that ran from the vintage 1987 hit “U Got the Look” through “Black Sweat” from his recent “3121” album, Prince delivered a survey of his catalog (“So many hits, so little time,” he said with a smirk at one point), peppering it with references to Scripture and spirituality. And so it was that a pop deity who since declaring himself a Jehovah’s Witness has surfaced with music that spans both sex and salvation, introduced his new pulpit in Sin City.
Prince of course joins a growing line of established artists to bet on Las Vegas, and for whom it seems uniquely equipped to deliver a jackpot. Probably no other city could bring the constant flow of high-rolling fans required to make this sort of undertaking work. But it is still a wager: Las Vegas has both validated legend status and marked a star’s devolution to cliché. This is the place where the Rat Pack reigned in style; it’s also a place that played host to the fat-period Elvis.
Yet Prince’s move here also came as a particular shock. How could Prince, a pop trailblazer who has in recent years largely abandoned the conventions of the commercial music business, set up shop amid the slot machines and buffets?
It seems only semi-permanent. His nightclub, at the Rio hotel-casino, is called 3121 after the album; the same name adorns the adjacent, loosely Asian-themed restaurant being run by his personal chef.
The talks to return Prince to Las Vegas, where he played the Mandalay Bay casino-hotel’s arena as a stop on his 2004 tour, reportedly turned serious this year after he dropped by the Rio to appear as a featured guest during a gig there by his longtime associate Morris Day.
But now that he has hung out a shingle, the question buzzing through entertainment circles here is how long the famously mercurial Prince will stick with the regimen of twice-weekly performances in the same spot. Event organizers say they have scrambled to provide him with every amenity to ensure his comfort, including a private lounge built under the stage (accessible by a purple staircase).
Prince’s partisans insist he is committed, but at the same time they are quick to distance him from the roster of acts that have set up shop at casinos here in easy-living pseudo-retirement, like Celine Dion and Barry Manilow.
“The show is anything but a retirement show,” said Sam Jennings, director of Prince’s fan club operation. “He sees it as just an opportunity to stretch his legs musically,” by mixing up his song choices, booking performers of his own choosing several nights a week and inviting guests to perform with him on his Friday and Saturday gigs. Tickets on Prince’s nights are $125.
If opening night is an indication, Prince’s purple reign may indeed depart from the productions now commonplace on the Strip.
"Ain’t no lip synching up on this stage,” he assured the audience of 900 as he performed just off the giant circular dance-floor that occupies the center of the nightclub.
In fact there was not only no lip synching; there was hardly any effort to dress up the production at all aside from displaying the 3121 logo in neon on the wall behind him. In keeping with the stripped-down style that has been a hallmark of his recent concert tours, Prince performed with only a bass player, a keyboardist and a drummer, with two back-up dancers (“the Twinz”) strutting and singing on several songs.
All of that signaled a departure from the dizzying labyrinth of over-heated productions here, which run from topless revues to Cirque de Soleil acrobatics spectacles to Ms. Dion’s choreographed showcase. His arrival comes as event promoters are proudly wagering that Las Vegas is shedding its image as a bone yard cluttered with over-the-hill performers and is instead becoming a real outlet for hot — or at least contemporary — performers.
But if even a pious Prince represents sexuality — and he does — then Las Vegas seems ready to embrace that as well. After a short-lived attempt to reinvent itself as a playground of family entertainment, it has reverted to its more risqué side with a vengeance, especially since gaming in increasingly available outside of Nevada.

wow- first 3121, now Happy Feet which he wrote the theme song for, good month for prince so far. Btw- I heard the Happy Feet Soundtrack is a great album with a great collection of music.

ciao for now---- M.K.
