NPGMC is gone and MySpace has replaced it Up until yesterday, if you Googled "Prince", the NPGMC was hit #1. The Org was #2.
This morning, I saw that NPGMC was gone and the new #1 with a bullet is "Prince - MySpace". The Org is still #2. I don't recall seeing the MySpace link at all before, so Prince has obviously paid what it takes to get his MySpace at the top of the list. Shoot, I've been trying to get on his friend's list for over a month! I keep putting in a request, but it's still pending a week later. Then I'll delete the request, and try again (to get my name at the top of the list). Whoever handles his MySpace account is SLOW! I figured they wouldn't take any requests right after the divorce announcement, to limit the number of inappropriate comments, but it would be nice to be his "friend" eventually. i really don't think prince's myspace page is a "you'll hear it here first!" resource. i think as prince distances himself more from universal, you'll see that myspace page grow more and more neglected.

I haven't had any luck with him adding me as a friend either and I've tried a few times. Now I don't feel so bad seeing that other people are having the same problem. I was able to make friends with many of his associates and past band members. | |

btw, i doubt the NPGMC myspace has much to do with Universal. i would think "NPGMC" is wholly owned by Prince and would remain a completely seperate entity from whatever label he's associating with at any given moment. | |

I didn't have any problems being added as a friend...but I did it quite awhile ago...probably before NPG shut down. Now Sheila E. on the other hand--her page will only allow requests from people she really knows.  You have to enter her last name or email (and I tried Escovedo--it didn't work.  )
It might be nice if Prince's myspace page really did function as a surrogate NPGMC but I don't think that's the case. There haven't been any new updates/blogs since NPGMC went on "hiatus" even though it says the last log in was today. IMO, it would be very common for Prince to jump on the myspace bandwagon after winning a webby for innovative use of the internet to market his music. | |

Do you know how many people are waiting to be his friend on that site since it opened? I noticed he did accept some of the npgmc fans. I bet there's more than 1,000 waiting to get on, plus I doubt if he's the one picking the friends to add on. There seems to be new ones added every other day. So don't give up hope, probably just too many trying to get on. | |

The myspace page was made by Universal. Who runs it now is anyone's guess cuz that thing was getting checked once a week if lucky. Now, it gets chacked at least every other day.
In the past few months, the top 8 has changed. If it is his, wouldn't DJ Rashida be the featured DJ? The only thing at all of interest that has changed is instead of the label being NPG/Universal, it now says Prince owns himself. there's a specific NPGMC myspace page? i just thought there was the "official" prince myspace page, and the "about me" profile starts a little something like this: This is the only authorized Prince MySpace page. All others r unauthorized and have no affiliation with Prince.
