Ok, two things...First of all, I hate Myspace. I have a profile on there so I can basically look at what my teenaged brother is doing. Kids can be so stupid and put everything they do and who they do it with on the that site. I see what he's been up to and tell my parents some of it since they are oblivious to what he does.

Secondly, just because Prince's myspace page says that it is the only official Prince Myspace page, doesn't mean that it is. I mean, really...I could make one right now and say that it is the only official Sheila E. Myspace and put up a bunch of pictures of her and post some music, but really I'm not her.

And I guess I'll add a third thing...Does anyone here actually think that Prince would have the time to sit at a computer and go through his Myspace page, adding friends and reading all of the dumb comments people send him as if they're actually corresponding with him? (Yes, I've looked at the page in question). Stuff like, "hey sexy, I just wanted to say that your music really is like the best. Keep doing what your doing." Give me a break!!!!

Arghh, I totally agree with you about those comments! Some of them are so over the top, and inappropriate. I can't believe some of the photo comments. Here's one: eek

"Oh yes baby, I was a naughty girl. Now come punish me. You will still be HOT when you are 100. You are the man!!"

Now, if anyone on here posted that, you are crazy! I don't know why these people think they would get on Prince's good side by telling him repeatedly that he is their man, and that they want him SO BAD! It's embarassing. Then, sane people like me don't get added to his friends' list. Oh well. Also, there is a pretty big gap between Emancipation and 3121 (10 years!) but they don't picture any of the ablums in between. I can't imagine Prince set that up.

Anyway, myspace is cheap and horrible and should be beneath Prince. Temporary solution only I hope.

Well this place might be going to hell in a hand basket, but I'm so happy. Finally I've found what I've been looking for all my life.

Wow. It really took courage to spill the truth out. I was thinking that I would never let it out. But it got to the point where I felt sad that Prince was going through so much all at the same time. And I figured I could help. Strange thing though, that after two days of totally being petrified of opening up, and thinking how I never want to come back to tell anymore...cause some of you are reall as_ho__s. You know? Well the wonderful and weird thing that happened to me today, is I'm free! I'm going to heaven. And I know it. Hm. So there! Hahahah!

Oh and thanks to the people who were friendly and supportive. I really, really appreciated that. THANKYOU.

Hey Prince. I woke up finally.

Why do some people let Prince off the hook for the way the club was closed? He/his operation has a track record for whimsically taking fans' money and not delivering smoothly, consistently.

How are the pressures of being a rock star to blame? Other rock stars are known for better consistency and for being cooperative with fans.

Prince "fams" are sheep. He could pull a Cheney and shoot them in the face and THEY would apologize for getting in the way of his gun...or they would look for the meaning behind why he pulled the trigger...and then declare that Prince is the best marksman on the planet. biggrin

So, you do not think that there are some artists who ,might want to use another venue to get to their fans? I am not saying that u are wrong but, you seem to be of the belief that, since he and others like him are "big stars", they do not have the time, to do something "regular humans", do. Just a thought. I'm just saying, why would he choose one of the most annoying sites on the whole internet to communicate with his fans. All he has to do is get another domain name and open up another official site for himself, which I'm guessing, is in the works right now. And as someone else pointed out, the information on there is not even all inclusive of his career. Plus, if you read the privacy policy it is Universal's privacy policy. It also still shows the band website as npgmusicclub. So it is in my opinion that it is part of Universal's rights since they put out 3121 to create a myspace account in his name. He's probably never even looked at it.

Just because you and a few other people find myspace annoying, it is a site that reaches more people that his own site would reach in one hour. We are talking about free advertising. When I looked it up on myspace, there 3 sites with him on it. The one that looks closest to being the one with his input, is the one that with that shows his last log in, in April. This would be correct, with all of the things that are going on with him. The others have him logging in "Yesterday". Those I am more inclined to believe are the ones that are run by the record company. What people forget is that Prince, is human, so I don't think that it is unbelievable for him to have a page on there, and for him to log in from time to time.

I think the 'unbelievable' part is that Prince HIMSELF runs the page. It's doubtful. HIGHLY doubtful. There are djs in the clubscene that find it difficult to manage their spaces and will often have friends do it for them and they are nowhere NEAR as busy as Prince.

I can't remember who said it, but I agree with them: once a star gets to a certain level, they can't handle doing something like this on a regular basis. And, if they let it go too far, then they never bother with it again, because who wants to sift through 50 pages of friend-requests on a site whose server can barely handle the trafic lately?

Dane Cook, on a radio morning show here in my city, basically confirmed my thoughts on 'celebrity Myspace' pages. After awhile, the production company handles it. Dane said he couldn't keep up with everything so his prod. comp/booking agency had an intern -- AN INTERN -- do it.

I'm sure Prince has a few interns. At least one.

Unless he's having pay roll issues again.

I agree with some of what u said. Stars one they get to a certain level, just might not have the time to maintain the pages themselves. But, this does not mean that they do not have any input. I am sure that they are kept in the loop of what is going on with those pages. Some might even respond to an email or two. Also, when u look at a myspace page, some celebs have multiple pages. They have one that is done by the record company and some do indeed do one for themselves. Alicia Keys, Stacy Dash, and Jody Watley, just to name a few. They all have two pages. So, the idea that a star would like to number one, be like "normal" folk and just chill amongst the masses and number 2, maybe market themselves.....to me just does not sound all that too far fetched.

What is the url to this one? The only one I see that looks "official" is www.myspace.com/prince

Also--unrelated to your comment, but something I noticed--you can't view 'all' of Prince's friends...is that because there are too many, or for some other reason? hmmm

Here is the one that I looked at. From what I see, you can see all of his friends.... http://www.myspace.com/npgmusicclub

Thanks.

There are a few discrepancies that make me think that site is not "official":
1.the song playing is Sexy Motherfucker (not the clean version, either). NPGMC didn't even allow typed swear words, seems odd Prince would have that song as the main music.
2. the "About Me" blurb is not written in headache-inducing Prince-bonics. No 'eye', 'r', 'u', etc. Every word is spelled out. (And it talks about his movies 'flopping.' I doubt Prince would ever admit that.)
3. No mention of 3121 in the About Me blurb--it ends with release of Musicology.
4. One of the blogs links to the video of America live performance...while fairly easy to find, I don't know if this was ever officially released. If it wasn't ever 'officially' released, I highly doubt Prince would put it on his 'official' site.

Whomever did the site did a nice job, even though it's not the real deal.

Geez I'm beginning to hatecomming to the Org... esp with the influx of ... other 'fam' as of recent times.

First, EVERY ONE IS NOT an HTML/CSS website designing pro. They will make 'visually' and 'functionally' bad pages most of the time. If you understand how your PC cache's information.. you will also understand how most dont realize how thier pages load slow etc. ts free and its fun... if you paid for it... bitch... but since you don't... stop acting like a bitch.

Second, there are many 'REAL' people on Myspace... I'm real My Page I've read post here of several others on there so I assume they feel they are real since people posting to the Org is no less 'real' than someone of MySpace... I've got several of my friends on thier.. they were real eating my BBQ this summer..so i figure they're real on myspace too... I've had the plaesure of meeting a few people 'off net' and hell yeah they were real. The only fake people are the ones to cynical or too scarred to socialize on or off the net..they sit and cast judgement from thier PC and often have no life.. PC or no PC

Third, Tamar Davis's official site has/had her Myspace addy... her Myspace page list Prince's official page as her #1 friend... safe to assume SHE or her people now which is the REAL one. http://www.myspace.com/prince . Being added as a friend may take a while though. The official page isn't entirly new... but peeps didn't know which was until recent..and also .. with the heavy influx of his fans with MPG club gone... it takes time accepting people.

Fourth, there are wierdo's, criminal, stalkers, peds, and Gd knows what else on Myspace... If you think community forums such as TheOrg or any place else is truly different... please do me a favor and don't make children. Stupidity can be inherited.

Fifth, even though they can be annoying as all hell... it is a great venue for 'new artist' to get thier stuff heird. I've heard a lot of music I never would have and am thankful for free places like myspace which allows artist to promote them selves.... even if they can be annoying at times.

I've heard a lot of music I never would have and am thankful for free places like myspace which allows artist to promote them selves.... even if they can be annoying at times.

clapping Thank you for your comments. Seems to me that we have more than a few no-believers on here.

I'm not sure if your entire post is directed towards me, but since it replies to mine, I'm taking that way...

Geez I'm beginning to hatecomming to the Org... esp with the influx of ... other 'fam' as of recent times.

Firstly, I'm not "other 'fam'" as you put it. I've been here (at the org) for 2+ years as jone70 so that says what? Prince.org was the first prince website I joined. And I'm definitely not a "fam." But even if I were, so what? To use your own words, "ts [sic] free and its fun... if you paid for it... bitch... but since you don't... stop acting like a b***h."

I realize that not everyone knows HTML/CSS. I personally have no idea how to write HTML/CSS code. But I figured it out by going to a website that helps you create your own myspace page. (I looked at other people's pages that I liked & saw they had done their's using pimp-my-profile.com ) When I couldn't get it to look right, I uploaded a pre-made one. Please don't tell me to stop acting like a bitch--I find being called that by someone I don't know & have never interacted with offensive. There are ways to have mature discussion without resorting to name calling...perhaps you could try it?

Second, there are many 'REAL' people on Myspace... I'm real My Page I've read post here of several others on there so I assume they feel they are real since people posting to the Org is no less 'real' than someone of MySpace... I've got several of my friends on thier.. they were real eating my BBQ this summer..so i figure they're real on myspace too... I've had the plaesure of meeting a few people 'off net' and hell yeah they were real. The only fake people are the ones to cynical or too scarred to socialize on or off the net..they sit and cast judgement from thier PC and often have no life.. PC or no PC

I never said there weren't real people on myspace. I questioned that www.myspace.com/npgmusicclub was not Prince's official site, and pointed out my reasons for believing so. I wasn't making arbitrary statements.

I agree, I think Tamar's page is run by her, as is DJ Rashida, Rhonda Smith and many other non-Prince musican/dj peeps.

Fourth, there are wierdo's, criminal, stalkers, peds, and Gd knows what else on Myspace... If you think community forums such as TheOrg or any place else is truly different... please do me a favor and don't make children. Stupidity can be inherited.

Really not sure what your point ^^^ is. If you are accusing me of being a "weirdo, etc" you need to stop. If you are accusing me of being stupid you really need to stop. You don't know me personally and if you even took one minute to read my posts you'd see that I'm not stupid. And to reiterate, mature conversations/disagreements can be had without name calling.

Fifth, even though they can be annoying as all hell... it is a great venue for 'new artist' to get thier stuff heird. I've heard a lot of music I never would have and am thankful for free places like myspace which allows artist to promote them selves.... even if they can be annoying at times.

I never said it wasn't great for "new artists", so again, I don't really see your point.

I'm not sure if you are referring to me, but just to reiterate--I think that www.myspace.com/prince is affiliated with Prince officially. Whether it's Prince himself or Universal running it, I don't know & frankly I don't care.

I do not think www.myspace.com/npgmusicclub is an official Prince site.

Some of you all are acting like I personally insulted the guy. It's really not that serious. sigh
