I'll just do the Prince ones..

- The Grand Progression. (My favorite Prince song, makes
me think of a woman I felt that way about, and hope to
feel that way again someday). I write myself, but I
always thought I would sing this at my wedding.
- The Beautiful Ones ( I was hooked after I heard this).
- Soul Santuary (I think this the most beautiful song I've
every heard.
- Sometimes It Snows In April. (The only friend I've ever
had that was into Prince as much as me died in an
accident that year. (Played the song at his wake)...
- Still Would Stand All Time
- Old Friends 4 Sale (Original '86 Version).
- Goodbye
- I hear your voice (Prince vers.)
- She gave her angels
- Comeback...

I could list a ton, but I suppose these are the most moving Prince songs I've heard. So many envoke emotion. I can date my life by the songs.

Most moving songs...

"Sometimes It Snows..." just connects on a level that most songs don't. First time I heard this it brought a chill to my spine and it still holds that power to this day.

"Stand By My Woman" by Lenny Kravitz - a song that came in my life and touched me by it's lyrics matching my situation exactly. One of those situations where a song totally reflects your life. This song will always be special for that reason (NB - the "woman" became my wife and my personal situation changed for the better)

"Papa" - this always feels so heart-felt to me. Exorcising some demons in my mind.

"Saturday Night" - Whigfield ... most moving song of all time, well it made my bowels move!

big grin

Stand By My Woman" by Lenny Kravitz
Man, that songs gets me too...

another one that comes to mind is "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. I dont know why this song makes me cry..maybe it's the clash of textures...Armstrong's deep, grainy voice set against the soft strings and flutes, but he managed to sing this song so tenderly, so sweetly, it really gets to me.

That song makes me cry too! In fact, my brother and sister-in-law had that song played at their wedding, and I had to force myself not to cry (but I still got tears in my eyes - lol). I never understood why that song moves me, but it does, especially at the very end of the song where Louis sings "Ohhh yeaahhh". sigh cry

I LOVE music, but I'm just going to talk about Prince here.

Lately, I've been listening to the new download 1+1+1 with Eric Leeds. That song moves me to dancin. Yes indeed.
I'm dancin all over the place with this. It has the "Minneapolis Sound" if you will. I LOVE it. So I just got through dancin (RELEASE) to it. hmmm

Ok - then...

I LOVE his music.

Here are some that come to my mind right away.

Days of Wild. I was driving down the highway today, and there is something about the way he plays that guitar on this one.

? of U - ditto - that guitar solo. The song draws me to tears.

Love Sign - lets put it on - shall we?

Joy in Repetition - oh yeah - well, what can I say about this ONE. It is completely JOY to me.

Anna Stesia - BEAUTIFUL AND THEN SOME!

Last December - listen carefully to his WORDS!

The Ride - this one is well - ...you know

The Cross/The Christ - on 2000 VIDEO - Gorgeous plus

Sometimes it Snows in April - because it sure does here in Minneapolis

Much Love!

Don,t kill me if the lyrics of the following songs are not what you would consider "moving" -- the music is to me. They just send a shiver down my spine whenever I listen to them after a long period of not putting the cd on.

I never loved a man - Aretha
What's Going On -- Marvin
Hey Joe -- Hendrix
Sunday Morning - Velvet Underground
Electric Intercourse - Prince
Anna Stasia - Prince
Sitting on the dock of the bay -- Otis

Perfect - Alanis Morissette
My Life - Beatles

I agree with Winter and Perfect; both songs made me cry when I heard them live. So much emotion in their voices. Other songs that made me cry when I heard them live:

That I Would Be Good - Alanis
Top of the World - Patti Griffin

(I'm just going to skip the Prince tunes because there are tooo many! Ok, Anastesia. Prince is the ULTIMATE for me. He moves me in so many ways.)

Why Should I Cry For You - Sting
Better Be Home Soon - Crowded House
All I Want Is You - U2 (The video just kills me)

And that's about all I can think of for now... shrug

for starters, the person who started this thread gave praise to the same song, yet nobody felt the need to "educate" him about it being "plagarized"(which is as much an overstatement as Nep's "explodes" comment),

Well, I didnt necessarily mean that it actually exploded like a damn cruise missile. lol In no way was that an "overstatement" because it was used as a figure of speech, which people do all the time. wink Plus, whether a song "explodes with feeling" is entirely subjective so it cannot be an overstatement in every1's eyes. wink

So I think Nep has a very valid point when she says that the comments made are only made because it's her...

THANK U VERY DAMN MUCH! smile

However...Nep, you're desire to ignore the "few notes" that are similar to "He's So Fine" was nowhere in existence when you were busy slamming "Everlasting Now"

I didn't ignore them. In fact, I was the one that mentioned it was the NOTES, whereas no1 else bothered 2 explain it fully. Could have been the WORDS that were plagiarized 4 all any1 on here might know. I was, in fact, the one who POINTED IT OUT IN DETAIL and expanded upon what rdhull was talking about.

for being nothing more than a "rip off" of "Burn This Disco Out"...those two songs only have 2 notes similar in their base line, but it was enough in your eyes to overcome the overwhelming multitude of differences the two songs have, as well as to ridicule those who praised "Everlasting Now"...so you could say that what goes around, comes around..lol wink

I said the bass line was incredibly similar--more than 2 notes were similar. I know because I whipped out "Off The Wall" as soon as I heard Everlasting Now!

My remark about the bass line was part of a larger criticism about that song...but I'd prefer 2 stay on topic as far as this "My Sweet Lord" thing. wink
