Mother Stands For Comfort from Kate Bush's Hounds of Love album is very moving too. In an eerie sort of way.

"Killing Me Softly"...Roberta Flack
"The Beautiful Ones"...Prince
"That's The Way Of The World"...Earth, Wind & Fire

Also, it was a bit ridiculous to jump on Nep2nes for her praise of "My Sweet Lord"...for starters, the person who started this thread gave praise to the same song, yet nobody felt the need to "educate" him about it being "plagarized"(which is as much an overstatement as Nep's "explodes" comment), nor to tell him to "learn his history"...secondly, what makes "My Sweet Lord" so effecting and moving are the words, the amazingly heartfelt and sincere way George Harrison sings about wanting to connect to his Lord, while at the same time acknowledging just how difficult it can often be to do just that...it is NOT the three chord arrangement that echoes "He's So Fine" that makes it so moving...So I think Nep has a very valid point when she says that the comments made are only made because it's her...

However...Nep, you're desire to ignore the "few notes" that are similar to "He's So Fine" was nowhere in existence when you were busy slamming "Everlasting Now" for being nothing more than a "rip off" of "Burn This Disco Out"...those two songs only have 2 notes similar in their base line, but it was enough in your eyes to overcome the overwhelming multitude of differences the two songs have, as well as to ridicule those who praised "Everlasting Now"...so you could say that what goes around, comes around..lol wink

Well, being as though all of Prince's music at least in my mind could be considered an intense attempt to seduce you. The entire Purple Rain album is a love letter with one special lady in mind. When that first chord in Purple Rain strikes the speaker it gives me chills! Dolphin, I love you, but I don't trust you, and the most beautiful girl in the world all have the ability to send chills down my spine and put a lump in my throat.

Why dont you just use my name and speak directly to me? I did not "jump" anybody and I explained why it wasnt explained to SDL in the follwoing posts ...it turned inot something that seemed like a "jump" because instead of simply using Neppy's patented "eyeroll" I wrote it out. And again although it seems as if I wrote know your history because she may have not been aware of the litigation due to the song, but that how could one praise it so much and supposed God-like George when the song had dubious beginnings. And it was only volleyed back and forth in argument because it was "me" who said what was said just as you accuse me of saying what was said because of it being Neppy(which is partly true...seems that others opinions can be dogged and flogged by her with equal amounts of sarcasm etc). And the fact that you acknowledge that she did the same thing etc. with Everlasting Now etc is proof enough. And nobody was saying that she didnt have a valid point in the emotion one gets form the song..even though its your account. I happen to adore the song itself, it just seems a tad bit odd that soemone who likes to knock others opinions so much would pick a song such as that, which is knockable. lol

And here is a better song IMO by George Harrison than "My Sweet Lord". "All Things Must Pass" just says so much in one song. My Sweet Lord, no matter how you cut it, is a blatant rip off of He's So Fine...I know he didn't do it concsiously, but they do sound an awful lot alike.

Most moving songs...

"Sometimes It Snows..." just connects on a level that most songs don't. First time I heard this it brought a chill to my spine and it still holds that power to this day.

"Stand By My Woman" by Lenny Kravitz - a song that came in my life and touched me by it's lyrics matching my situation exactly. One of those situations where a song totally reflects your life. This song will always be special for that reason (NB - the "woman" became my wife and my personal situation changed for the better)

"Papa" - this always feels so heart-felt to me. Exorcising some demons in my mind.

"Saturday Night" - Whigfield ... most moving song of all time, well it made my bowels move!

big grin
Everybody is special. Everybody. Everybody is a hero, a lover, a fool, a villain. Everybody. Everybody has their story to tell.
