Orgasm? Maybe so. What's ur problem? Ur mad at me 4 being moved by a certain song, instead of one of urs? I'm not u, I'm me. I'm sorry but I refuse 2 con4m 2 what u think is moving and what isn't. I admire ur taste in music, y can't u accept mine?

Plagiarised or not, that was only a few notes...and not even done on purpose. I'm looking at the big picture--and it's telling me that the song itself is more important than all the legal bullshit u prefer 2 focus on.

TRON

God, there's so many to choose from. "The Cross" live or "Word on a Wing" by Bowie come to mind but I have so many on my list. Music brings me to tears all the time but if I had to pick the most gut-wrenching, passionate song that does it to me everytime, I'd have to say Joy Division's "Disorder".

-I've been waiting for a guide to come and take me by the hand
Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?
These sensations barely interest me for another day
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, take the shock away

It's getting faster, moving faster now, it's getting out of hand
On the tenth floor, down the back stairs, it's a no man's land
Lights are flashing, cars are crashing, getting frequent now
I've got the spirit, lose the feeling, let it out somehow

What means to you, what means to me, and we will meet again
I'm watching you, I'm watching her, I'll take no pity from your friends
Who is right, who can tell, and who gives a damn right now
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know
Until the spirit new sensation takes hold, then you know

I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling
Feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling-

Listen to it y'all. You'll see what I'm talking about wink

George Michael
Waiting For That Day (this song will appeal to anyone who has had their heart broken)...

Yeah man, that is one of my all time favorite emotional songs. His best.

Others that make me stop driving...

Will You Still Love Me Tommorrow, Roberta Flack.
This song...whew, it's very slow and delicate...it mesmerizes you then at the end the last few moments...sniff...it's just such...it touches you like no other love song...especially when you are in love.

Another Lonely Christmas, Prince and the Revolution.
What can I say the lyrics can be another movie unto itself. The way Prince sings is just a gut wrencher. The guitar solo is just pain...amazing. An example of vocal acrobatics but with soul, emotion, honesty, from the heart...just a beautiful, moving song. Long version is the best with that long drawn out ending and violins and synth...with the drums just being delicatley tapped.

Mr. Bojangles, Sammy Davis Jr.
If you really start imagining Sammy singing this with his hat under a spot light, it's just a tear jerker. The delicate jazz guitar, the meloncholy piano, Sammy's vocal emotion and delivery at the peak of the song and how just comes down and he just whistle's into the dark...so beautiful. I miss Sammy. Tear.

Good Morning Girl, Journey.
If you ever wake up next to the most beautiful girl (inside and out) next to you...then this is the song that just takes you away...whew.

Ava Maria, Mozart (I may be wrong..!).
I found myself listening to this one time on repeat while working (graphics, computers, blah)...and without noticing, feeling an incredible feeling of peace and comfort and calm...it was out of the ordinary...then I concetrated on it and fell in love with it.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John.
A masterpiece that just takes me away...a feeling of floating away and just taking to some other plane, sunsets and Wilshire Blvd...uh, I'm back! There's also a great rebeliousness in the lyrics which inspires me to walk away from the b.s. around me...magical and inspirational.

Martha My Dear, The Beatles.
Pauls song...just gives me the warmest, fuzziest feeling ever! It moves me into just a joyful state of mind! I love this song! Brilliant!

Melancolia, Camilo Sesto (for all the latinos!).
It's a classic Latin American song...Camilo is one of the best all time singers...this one song is actually a uptempo, dramatic song, but the main chorus is just a gut wrencher. It's a song about being melancholy over loving a woman and not having the same in return. But in the spanish language there are some extra words you use to refer to someone and he refers to the woman with such respect and urgency that it just a fantastic song! The main chorus is just a masterpiece of lyrics/songwriting!

"Vivir asi, es morir de amor!" translation, "To live that way, is to die of love!". It actually moves you more in spanish. Other ones from him that move me are Quieres Ser Mi Amante, and Jamas. Recommended.

Overjoyed , Stevie Wonder.
The part in the middle where he singing the main chorus (right before the second verse) of happiness an hopefulness and then he suddenly comes down to sadness, that just blows me away everytime I hear it. "And though you don't believe that they do, They do come true, For did my dreams Come true when I looked at you And maybe too, if you would believe You too might be Overjoyed, over loved, over me..."

It's A Wonderful World, Eva Cassidy.
Nightline did a profile on this magical singer ( http://abcnews.go.com/sec...10525.html ). She died young of cancer right when she was about to make it big. Her renditions and singing are just the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Discover her.

Castilian Blue, Terence Trent Darby.
This song literally moved me, it made me go back with my girl...it was the song that drove me to find her again. 'Nuff Said.

But...hands down the most moving song award goes to Bjork for "Next to Last Song" from Dancer in the Dark...I dont think I will again feel what I felt while hearing/seeing this song for the first time...The emotional arc of the Selma character and what she goes through is soo sadly summarized through this song...and then BAMM!! It happens!! I hate and love Lars Von Trier for making this movie...

I feel the same way...I was just thinking of that movie the other day...it still haunts me. I think one of the most striking things about it (aside from the wonderful acting) is that the way it was shot makes it look sort of like a documentary...I think that adds to the punch of it.
For anyone who hasn't seen "Dancer in the Dark" and can stomach an emotionally draining movie, I highly recommend it...

LadyCabDriver

all of the prince songs mentioned above, plus:

"a song for you" - donny hathaway. I was digging Ray Charles' version of this song until I heard Hathaway's...no disrespect to brother Ray, but can't NOBODY sang this like Donny, hands down. His painful voice literally forces the tears out of your eyes.

another one that comes to mind is "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. I dont know why this song makes me cry..maybe it's the clash of textures...Armstrong's deep, grainy voice set against the soft strings and flutes, but he managed to sing this song so tenderly, so sweetly, it really gets to me.
