LOVESEXY (today's the day) Today is the day I get my wife's copy of Lovesexy album CD and rip it to the computer so I can start the process of breaking the single track up into songs.
Ever try this? Lovesexy? Should it be left as a single track? Why? What's the best tracks off the single track and Why? News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

I know I'm gonna get killed for this, but it has always been the only Prince album that I don't like . Had to get that out.

If I knew how and had the patience 2 do it,I would.
Maybe then I would play this album more often,in the 80's I bought the LP and CD,so I never had a problem listening 2 my fav tracks. But nowadays, without a record player,I hate it that I have 2 FF be4 I can hear my fav's: Lovesexy(ALL time fav, this IS Prince) Glam Slam Positivity (still think a lot of people should listen 2 those lyrics) Ín fact,Lovesexy is in my top 5 of P-albums,maybe also because Livesexy made such a great impression at the time. I love the whole CD, but I don't like having 2 wait 2 hear "I Wish U Heaven". Yes, I know I could just fast forward, but by the time that thought occurs 2 me I'm already listening 2 the Extended version of the song and am deep in purple bliss. Yes, well that's why I'm seperating the tracks. It's always been a pain. I think the whole album is great, but sometimes you are just not feeling a particular groove and you want to move on.
If I had a dollar for every time I tryed to "Foward" to the next track, just to find myself having to start from the beginning again, I could go see a movie. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I've done it. And have to say, it is weird. Just very strange hearing the songs end without the seemless continuation. I think it's because my brain is so programed to hear the next sequenced track. But, it is fun to not have to FFWD through the damn CD.
I have listened as seperate tracks and the sequenced version a few times. The album defintely has a certain feel about it as sequenced compared to the songs seperatley. The ones that are really cool to have singled are Anna Stesia - Hearing it by itself really accentuates what a kick ass song it really is. Dance On Lovesexy Have fun MickG it is cool to have them as singles and listen whenever you want!

The versions you get now are tracked; probably less hassle just to buy one of those.

I will then burn it back on to a cd in line. However that way when I want to listen to it, I can foward the tracks. I'm already done. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

Ever try this? Lovesexy? Should it be left as a single track? Why? What's the best tracks off the single track and Why? I did it a few days ago, except I replaced Lovesexy (the song) with the Most Vital mix. The album goes together so well, I would leave all the songs 'A pillow covered in all our tears'

considering they have spaces between the songs and the songs are separate, i think they should be broken up.
seriously, you don't know anyone who has this broken up already and can burn you a copy? Christian Zombie Vampires

I don't socialize much. I don't know anyone that doesn't confuse Prince with Jackson, and talk about Prince in a past tense. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

i thought it was a brilliant idea to make it all one track
to me it symbolised 'freeflow' - nothing separate from anything else a great way to present a theme-album i also liked it when janet jackson started putting little snippets of intro's b4 songs when i was younger and impatient, i used to fast forward certain parts of lovesexy, like at the start, i wanted to get straight to alphabet street... last time i played it, i listened to the whole album as one track and alphabet street sounds 'better' if u hear it coming after the first track, than if u isolate it prince's keen inutition for light and shade has always delighted me, and i think lovesexy as a single track, shows his ability to do this very well . but over-all i agree - TODAY IS LOVESEXY DAY. but then again.... LOVESEXY NEVER LEFT! hahahahaha " the embassy shut to keep the fools out " - as above, so below.

One thing that bugs me is Prince's statement of no
really he's saying he's spiritual blind, and sometimes that does seem the case. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

Ever try this? Lovesexy? Should it be left as a single track? Why? What's the best tracks off the single track and Why? I tracked it because Positivity is my fav and it's the last song...fast forwarding to the end is annoying as bloody hell! I Wish U Heaven is another favorite of mine also...it's absolutely beautiful! When 2 R In Love is beautiful, but I always had the option of going to The Black Album or the Scandalous Sex Suite for it rather than FFing through Lovesexy. Anna Stesia deserves a mention as well...there's plenty of soul to go around in that track! ..... Just say "NO" to cow mucus consumption!

When I got my iPod one of the first things I did was import all my Prince CD's from For You through Chaos & Disorder into iTunes. I didn't used to listen to Lovesexy that much mostly because I never liked the song "Eye No" and didn't want to have to sit through it to get to the good stuff. But I figured as long as I was at it I'd go ahead and break up Lovesexy into individual tracks (I imported the whole disc as a WAV file, broke the WAV into individual tracks using Magix Audio Cleaning Lab, then converted those WAV files into AAC files using iTunes). I have to say I listen to it A LOT ever since I did that.

I got one of those Other type of Music Players with a hard drive 30GBs. I then went about uploading all my CD's to MP3 and transfering it to the player. It only took up about 10% of the room. After a short time I realized I can hear the diffrence Between MP3 and lossless. And I can't stand listening to MP3s. Now I have to go back and redoo the process into wav. Yeah, MP3 is a little weak. If you're using an iPod I found Apple's 128 kbps AAC format is decent IF you find the right EQ setting to go along with it (and it also keeps your average 4 minute song below 5 megs). If you're using one of "those other type" I'd suggest WMA files with the variable bit rate setting. Or there is a true Windows Media Audio Lossless. That should still be at least half the size of a WAV file.

Yeah, I can never understand people complaining about mp3s. They are a sixth the size of a wav, of course you have to lose some quality in the process, the whole point being you can carry around 6 songs as opposed to 1 with lossless sound, or with the few formats which claim to be lossless they are usually about half the size of wavs. Of course, with mp3 players that have large hard-drives space isn't the premium it once was. Personally I'm quite happy with mp3s encoded at 192, if you want top quality encode them at 320. At the end of the day you're usually listening to them on crappy headphones anyway.

I broke up Lovesexy because there are some tracks I don't like. However, lovesexy was hard to break up. Expecially Eye No and Alphabet Street. When I skip to track 2 (Alphabet St) it sounds dodgy because it's supposed to flow on from Eye No. Oh well

I've heard about this continuous track thing before so I was pretty surprised when my copy of the CD had separate tracks.
It's an original CD - not a copy or CD-R so does this mean he released some with separate tracks? Maybe mine is some rare version released before he decided to string them all together? Yeah right. Keep dreaming.

Keep dreaming. I think the initial run of CDs was a single track, but it was later released tracked, certainly the UK version is tracked. I've never considered this an ideal CD to be a single track, there are only a few places where tracks run into each other. Rainbow Children works far better as a single track because of the storytelling theme to it.
