Prince is no longer trying to get his masters back from WB (he said so in an interview in 2004), but rather, is working with WB to have a greater say in how his music is handled. This new "hits" package, as well as the D&P video collection, are a result of negotiations between WB and P.
The new regime at Warner's have actually been trying to get Prince BACK on their label, so (for now) both sides are playing nice. They conceded to Prince's demand to pull Ultimate back in the Spring, even though it had already shipped (which is why some folks were able to score a copy, when certain stores had already put them on display). The fact that the D&P videos and this compilation are coming out at least shows a certain willingness on Prince's part to work with WB. I wouldn't get too hopefull that this will lead to remasters or anything, but it is a positive. For now, Prince and Warner Bros. have a truce. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

ITS ILLEGAL FOR A RECORD COMPANY TO SAY " EVEN IF YOU PAY FOR THIS, WE STILL OWN IT. " THATS TECHNICALLY THEFT. ANY CONTRACT SIGNED UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS IS AN INVALID HOAX. A TRUE CONTRACT AINT GOT NO SMOKESCREEN. Actually, the law allows WB to own his masters for 25 years (at least, that used to be the time period). After this, they revert back to him. He should, at this point, own the masters for For You, Prince, Dirty Mind and Controversy (if the law is still as I understand it to be). Presumably a lot of stuff cobbled together from the already released videos? Anything new likely? It is exactly the same material as the VHS tape released in the 1990s. Long live Prince!!! Death to the company that has made him a superstar, took risks with the 17year old kid and stood by him all through his "nasty" phase, and paid him handsomely? EXCUSE ME, what a stupid comment is this? WB made a lot of money, but so did Prince. All this crying about Master rights - he sold them, so that is that. Don't think he had a gun pointed at his had when signing the contract. read my post again...and consider the laughing out loud emoticon at the end of it while you reading... Space for sale...

Just another repack of the same stuff. Another way for WB to steal more money from The Kid.

DO NOT BUY! live4luvandluvwillive4u Considering that it will have remastered tracks of many 12" versions, several which have never been released on CD, it really isn't "just another repack". Oh, and "The Kid" will get royalties, so WB isn't "stealing" from him. As I stated earlier, Prince has actually approved this release Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. It's a crime that Erotic City isn't on there. Just listened to that again yesterday and it's still incredible. Sw was the 12" for Mountains. Not sure why Cream is even on there, since it's a suckass house remix.
