Warner Bros. To Release Prince Music Collection CD

Warner Bros. To Release Prince Music Collection CD.

On August 22 Warner Bros. Records salutes Twin Cities’ funknastiest son, Prince with the release of: "Ultimate Prince," a two-disc compilation featuring his biggest hits and hard-to-find remixes; it captures his 18-year reign at Warner Bros., an ara during which he built a legacy of genre-bending hits that made him music royalty.

Featuring more than two-and-a-half hours of prime Prince, "Ultimate Prince" includes songs recorded between 1978 and 1993. The two-disc set contains the Grammy-winning singles "Kiss" and "Purple Rain," plus #1 pop hits "When Doves Cry" and "Let’s Go Crazy" as well as rare remixes of "Cream," "Little Red Corvette" and "Pop Life."

Also included in this treasure chest of royal rarities, are the single version of "7" from the symbol album; the 12-inch version of "Raspberry Beret" from Around The World In A Day and the classic B-side "She’s Always In My Hair," "Thieves In The Temple" from the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack.

The Ultimate Collection is a GREAT disc. I got a promo copy here in Oz through Warner and it is easily the best Greatest Hits so far purely for the quality of the re-mastering. In particular the 12"s benefit from this and the only disappointmnet is there were not more remastered 12's.

Let's Go Crazy 12" in particular sounds great.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

One of the good things about buying this is that apart from not wanting the March release date, Prince co-operated with WB on the project and they co-operated with him on the tracks he didn't want on there (Erotic City).

So the fans that care one way or the other can buy it guilt-free, it brings Prince's profile back up in the public eye and we get the chance to hear some re-mastered Prince that just may, just may result in future, more comprehensive re-masters if this one sells well.

Buy many copies and encourage your friends to do the same.

Don't forget the DVD of Diamonds and Pearls coming out too.

Presumably a lot of stuff cobbled together from the already released videos? Anything new likely?

Not the extended version.

Whenever my extended version gets in her hair, my gf gets annoyed.
But that's a topic of discussion that I'll save for the GD forum.

SO I GUESS IF U WERE ONE OF THE ONE'S WHO PAID $50 TO $100 FOR THIS SET U ARE PRETTY PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW...

WELL, GREED COMES THRU WHEN U EXPECT IT LEAST, AND WITH PRINCE FANS IT'S ALWAYS WHEN SOMETHING IS DELAYED OR RETRACTED. OTHER GENRES HAVE FANS WHO ARE ALWAYS MAKING SURE THAT EVERYONE GETS THEIR HANDS ON A RECALLED OR DELAYED ALBUM, BUT NOT PRINCE FANS,

JUST LIKE PRINCE, THEY ARE ALL OUT TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK.
