what REAL music is about. OLD SCHOOL! But who was that oversinging bitch who ruined "Sweet Thing"???? MikeA The young folks have this deer in the headlights look going on like they haven't seen a band before with real musicians. Awesome tribute for Chaka Tehy've been stuck using Casio keyboards and other machines that the idea of using a harmonica, piano and a guitar must be a foreign object to them and that's a damn shame. The tribute was the hotness. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

oops...one more, any footage of him on the red carpet? [Edited 6/27/06 19:05pm] pretty spread out. his award was early on, then about 10:15 or so the performance and if he does close then that is around 11 Cool, thanks!

DId u see how much P was into it... So true, I can be as jaded and cynical as anyone when it comes to P but that was cool to see how happy he seemed to be up there and it was to see him be a part of that. And that's about the only time you'll hear me say: "Boy, I'm glad I had BET on the TV". MikeA

I got choked up watching that as well. Chaka Khan on stage with Stevie and Prince! It just doesn't get any better than this. The history on that stage, the impact these people have/had on music...its too moving for words. That was Songs In The Key of Life to Sign O' The Times standing 5 feet away from each other. Jamming with Chaka...what a night!

That "blowhard" is Yolanda Adams and she is one baaaad sista. Y'all give it up for India Arie too.
P was rockin' with the heavyweights tonight. You could tell he was having the time of his life. That aftershow is gonna be hot! P is gonna blow it out of this orbit tonight. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

"Yo. T minus 14. Cut the commercials... let's roll with this!" "He's a musician's musician..."

Alright, so I take it this will run over since we still have an Outkast performance as well as "Video of the Year" to be announced.
And my bad on Yolanda Adams, I truly had no idea who that was onstage. As I said the only song of hers I know is "Open My Heart" which I do love but I didn't care for her singing at the end of "Sweet Thing" so sue me. OK, get this video of the year out the way. One less thing standing in the way of Prince. MikeA

ccollin88 said: MikeA7 said: I agree, that was pretty sweet. But that oversinger was back on "I'm Every Woman", who the hell was that blowhard? MikeA gospel singer YOLONDA ADAMS ...she is great...at least she can sing!...who yall want TAMAR? [Edited 6/27/06 19:24pm] Thank you very much, Yolonda Adams is one of the best voices of our era, though many haven't heard of her because she is a Gospel artist. Please don't disrespect what you don't know. BET knew they had to pair someone with Chaka who could hang with her strong vocals and Miss Adams and India Arie were perfect choices. IMO, this was one of the finest tributes I've ever seen. I'm sure Chaka insisted on only using real musicians and singers who could do her music Justice. I'm sure some FOOL executive at BET probably tried to put some 17-18 yr. old talentless/no voice Chris Brown or Rihanna; But Chaka wasn't haven't it. The difference was clear tonight. P, Stevie, Yolanda, and Chaka wiped the floor with NEYO, Keshia Cole, and all them fools. While I'm at it, did you see how most of the audience disrespected Harry Belafonte, when they were describing his accomplishments, real contributions to this world, and they acted like they didnt' know to clap. I"m sure Mr. Glover sensed this which is why he had to ask the crowd to stand up, when they probably woulda stood up for some fool who's done nothing for anybody. But Mr. Belafonte was pure class and shared some true wisdom with us all. And big props to the SUPA BET fan who used his 5 seconds in the spotlight to spread some Gospel. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Peace, bodank [Edited 6/27/06 19:54pm] Every time I watch the other people news, I see a false picture of myself, another one of u. They try 2 tell us what we want, what 2 believe. Didn't that happen in the Garden, when somebody spoke 2 Eve? But I'm willin'....
