I glad I am not he only one that doesn't believe that it was unplanned. I was thinking about that last night. There is no way in hell that was a spur of the moment move.

Perfect appearance, IMO. oh i agree with you! i loved the 3121 performance best. i think it's a classic performance by all means. people need to stop bitchin' and just appreciate what was played instead of what shoulda/coulda I just don't understand how they could NOT see how phenomenal that performance was!!! It was OFF THE FUCKING HOOK!!! What the hell were they expecting???? Prince TORE THAT SHIT UP!!!!

The show wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Of course, without Prince, the show would've been lame. His presence made it all worth while. Some of the performances were good too. Beyonce can move, but she didn't sing much and when Jay Z came out, I was disappointed.
Mary Mary were fantastic! Those ladies can sing! Mary J. kicked ass! I love her. Yolanda Adams is one of the greatest singers ever IMHO! India was great ( I can't to see her live next week). I'm sorry to say, but Chaka sounded horrible. She was off key and screamed too much, but seeing her with Prince, Stevie and the ladies was great! I love that she brought her mom on stage. 3121 was good, but I was not blown away. Seeing the duded from the BEP ruined it for me. Congrats to Prince on his award! All and all, not a bad show.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/h...124002.stm Prince, who scored his first US number one album for 17 years this March, said his award for best male R&B singer was "unexpected". Prince and Stevie Wonder joined forces at Tuesday's Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards in Los Angeles to perform with lifetime achievement winner Chaka Khan. did you see P diddy's son (?) stand there with his fingers in his ears and P diddy pulling them out the instant the camera zoomed in? chaka gives me a headache with all that screaming. i thought the 3121 performance was great i love it when he plays guitar as he sings. OK...finally someone else who does not like screaming. THANK YOU!!! I was glad for Chaka....glad someone helped her sing. She really can sing but that screaming...even Yolanda screamed too much. Indie was great! Heck even Stevie screamed a bit, but his sounded less painful. Louder is not always better. I also enjoyed 3121. So...how's everybody doing?

Having said that, even if he did a song like Black Sweat, the crowd would have been lost in the sauce, like they seemed to be at the show. Now the Chaka Tribute was the bomb! You could see that Prince was into it. Now I hope he does the MTV Video Music Awards next
I watched the 3121 performance again before I went to bed and I got into it more. Reading the comments here also gave me a new perspective on it too. I have to say, will.i.am was great! he took the performance to another level and it was great to see prince and will work it out on stage. minds can be changed. prince did his thing. Remix! Remix!

I didn't say it sucked. I think you misunderstood. I was saying it's BET. The comedy was supposed to be crazy and the crowd wild. Some people can't realate to BET. I love BET and I look forward to seeing the awards every year. I was saying what did other people expect. It wasn't the Oscars.

I am so so glad that I got to see Prince last night! (I am double happy that I taped the entire show!) I really enjoyed hearing "3121" live--I had never heard it before--but the highlight for me was when he won the award for best R&B artist. I really like his speaking voice. Since he is so petite, I kind of expected his voice to be higher. I loved how deep it was. (Gimme a break, I'm a new fan!) And that black and white pinstripe suit was AMAZING!
Loves it! I love a Man who:

Yeah, the wailing. Too much of that. And P Did's son is SO gonna get a spanking once he gets home. I was wondering why, his son had hes ears covered. How rude, he indeed needs a spanking. I think Chaka was screaming to much though.

Reminds me of the last time I saw Patti Labelle (went to see Luther) Patti...screamed so much all the kids had their ears covered. Patti went off on them from the stage...came back apologizing later. Kids are honest. That screaming hurts!!!! So...how's everybody doing?

It was OFF THE FUCKING HOOK!!! What the hell were they expecting???? Prince TORE THAT SHIT UP!!!! I don't pay attention to tributes. They bore me. Prince was OK during the tribute aside from a few silly/awkward dance moves. But I breathed a sigh of relief ... and I thought he was done for the night. Then, when I learned he really would close the show, I got nervous again, because these performances tend to be either lame or mildly tolerable. I didn't want him to do anything to embarass himself ...being all out of the loop with pop culture and all.... But then the music started And the fukking guitar seized my soul -- hard! and Then he started the vocal delivery And I thought, hell yes!!! The entire thing was marvelous ...including Will at the end (and yes I do believe Will ..who said on the aftershow that it was an honor and shock when PRince threw the Mike to him and he just went up there ) So cool. P.S. Again. Why is everyone calling for Black Sweat ? It has an 80s sound that I like ..but would continue to date PRince in the public eye. (it's bad enough on my other boards folks are complaining he didn't do Purple Rain or a medley. WTF? ) 3121, sounded fresh (even though it also recalls older Prince tunes). Go there PRince. Go for the eclectic rock with the hard driving bass. 3121 is so flexible it can probably hit in any era. Let's see if that performance will push interest. PPS: Prince did not deserve that award. AGreed.
