Contrary to popular belief, it looked like a lot of artists in the audience were feeling the 3121 performance -- especially the guitar part.

I don't have it recorded, but I remember seeing Snoop and another rapper (Kanye?) look at each other during a guitar riff ...like they're gonna have to get PRince's guitar on one of their albums ... razz

Yeah, the wailing. Too much of that.

And P Did's son is SO gonna get a spanking once he gets home.

I was wondering why, his son had hes ears covered. How rude, he indeed needs a spanking. I think Chaka was screaming to much though.

hell no. he's a little child. his ears are very sensitive and if he
were my son i woulda covered his ears my damn self lol.

not for the screaming, that's just personal taste, but i guess that
the volume of such a performance was cranked up very loud and thats
why the boy covered his ears.

either that, or he just doesn't like chaka's screaming biggrin

knowing how much she respects and loves Stevie Wonder and having
him play keys with Prince on guitar at her side, she must still
be high today from that incredible chance! and yes, i loved her
performance as well. she's great!!!

I got to see Prince, Stevie, and Chaka Khan perform together on stage, courtesy of BET! I'm so happy, I'll never say another bad thing about BET, well at least out loud, anyway!

I loved it! fallinluv

I have to say, Prince's final per4mance wasn't as great as I thought it would be.

I was only gonna watch the last fifteen minutes of the show, figuring "hey, he's only closing the thing" and I'm rather glad I didn't because I would've missed the piece with Chaka and a few other bits. Pretty good performance, I thought. I wish there was a (studio) version/mix like that. hmmm

My local "R&B and Classic Soul" (as they refer to it) radio station has been playing a lot of Stevie Wonder music today. Which is a-okay by me, I heart me some Stevie!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

How do you know throwing the mic was not planned? Did Will I Am actually state categorically that it was unplanned? Or are you just interpreting it that way?

I can't see anyway Prince would risk ruining his performance with something unplanned right at the end with someone he's not even performed with before. I think it's pretty ludicrous to suggest Will was just wandering by...

I don't think it was a risk.

It appeared to me that the performance was over. I mean Damon Wayans had started speaking to end the show.

Prince was still on stage and started revving it up again, it seemed like an impromptu encore to me.
Awards shows are filled with impromptu invitations to audience members to rush the stage as the credits roll.

I saw this in that vein ....

And Prince's face looks like at first he was concerned about Will. I thought he didn't like it. And then his face broke into a smile and laugh and he really got into it. That's my recollection.

Man, I'm glad to see you're joking 'cause I was just about to go OFF!!! lol Every single public appearance mf's gotta pry - where's the ring? Where's Mani? Is he still married? Who's he fucking? SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! ill

But you were joking, so I'll save it for another day innocent

that's an utterly ridiculous attitude to have ... Prince is a celebrity. people want to pry. and when someone as religious and devout as he doesn't wear a ring, it may mean something. and folks like to know.
[Edited 6/28/06 6:09am]

No, it really isn't "utterly ridiculous" lol I don't know if you've seen the way these bitches go on & on & ON about that stuff - it's like an every day obsession with the whereabouts of this man's dick & I just can't get THAT interested in his personal life.

Now if they switched it up & worshipped his ass instead I could join in thumbs up! falloff

It was nice seeing prince's performance...I was thinking of some of the older folk in the crowd (Belafonti, etc...) and them having to sit through some of the earlier acts. Some of that rap stuff is just crap. Was nice seeing Belafonti clapping and moving his head to the beat when prince was up there.

It was interesting that Prince thanked the people that would later join him on stage for the tribute. And who is this Jehovah God? Since when did Jehovah have a last name? And when did God ever become somebody's second name? I'm enjoying the rebroadcast of the show right now. I love the org because you can be both negative and positive. The club seems to reject any negativity and in my opinion, that just isn't reality.

It was punctuated with a slight pause, so he rather meant "Jehovah, God" or "Jehovah / God". It's a quite clear indication to me at least that he is again fusing beliefs from the various sources he has dabbled with in his previous life and coming up with something that fits him better. That's nothing new to Prince, as he seems to be totally incapable of accepting an outside doctrine on any matters concerning his life.
