The only way..ONLY way this works for me is if he treats it like he did the Paisley Park gigs where you never knew what he would play or who would show up...and FUNK IT UP.

4. Prince goes Vegas for several years with a setlist that is almost all hits and bores the hell out of his fans while charging major money for admittance.

3. Prince goes Vegas but not for years and has a good percentage of songs that were not performed to death in the past.

2. Prince is there only for the summer and only to recreate the 3121 party feel he had at his home -- something like the Purple ticket party but expanded.

1. Prince realizes that staying in Vegas is a bad idea and opts for a tour.

perhaps folks should hold off and wait to see exactly what else entails from this, as opposed to immediately going into "oh noes, he's dooooomed!!!"-mode.

The trend these days is to do a stint in Vegas and charge obscene prices because they know that tourists will shell out the cash.

Puh-lease! Any thoughts of Prince's demise - artistic or otherwise - are extremely premature. Vegas has been a big part of Prince's career for the last 10 years, and the town has been blessed with many great Prince shows and aftershows. Prince's technical abilities as a player, his eccentric sense of style, and his artistic curiosity are always on point in Vegas. He's played rare versions of some of his catalog's most meaningful songs at Vegas aftershows.

It's a 24-hour playground, over the top, easily accessible and built for maximum convenience. You're sounding Prince's death knell, but these shows could be as cool as the Paisley Park Love4oneanother run in 1995, or the Celebration at Paisley in 2002.

Matter of fact, in Vegas, you don't have to rent a car and drive around at all hours of the night trying to find your way back to the Chanhassen Inn! You can stay right next door at the MGM Grand, or across the street at New York New York, Excalibur or a ton of other places. After the show, you can go out clubbing, or choose from a wide variety of places to eat.

Vegas has always been Prince's perfect playground. He feels appreciated in Vegas, and just like the rest of us, Prince does his best work when he's at ease in an environment of appreciation and respect. I predict that anyone on this board who attends a Prince show in Vegas will have a helluva lot of fun, and they will have good memories of the event for the rest of their lives.

But hey, I'm an optimist, and I can only speak from experience. By all means, you theory and conjecture experts who've never attended a Prince show in Vegas, bitch on! Naysay all day! Meanwhile a lot of Prince fans are going to have the time of their lives in Vegas this summer.
