I think we underrate the Rave 2000 video. You hate to admit, that concert he did was pretty damn good. His guitar playing was great and he was workin that suit. Remember that amazing purplexxxe solo? whew. Yea, the thing is pretty steller. All you others say Hell Yea!!

who doesn't like the rave 2000 concert? i love it! dont see how anyone couldnt. even the performance of "baby knows" totally murders the studio version.
how fucking cool were the time at this show btw. still every bit as funky as in 84, morris still every bit the mack he was in 84.....ahhhh. morris made lenny kravitz look like a dork. that may not be hard, but still [Edited 6/5/06 20:04pm] [Edited 6/5/06 20:05pm]

I love it for the close-ups & tight clothes alone But yea, my fave parts musically are Purple House & Nothing Compares 2 U
AND when the crowd surfs him to his tricked out piano (and that lady looks like she's gonna fucking DIE just talking to him, LOL)... I love that dvd

how fucking cool were the time at this show btw. morris day made lenny kravitz look like a dork. that may not be hard, but still Lots of people criticize the editing b/c it's choppy. It could have been better BUT it could be much worse too - look @ that Aladdin shit And I gotta say I liked P's treatment of Lenny's songs better than when Lenny arranges them live

I just can't get it here in NZ. Even when a local dvd site advertises it, they then can't get it. I tried 3 times and still no luck. I've got the Aladdin dvd, which while it has its moments it's kinda just okay (image quality-wise it's not good - was this shot on basic cheap canons??!).
Is rave better than Aladdin? (i'm more into Prince lead guitar and rock music than anything else, but i love when it's combined with funk, like the 1+1+1=3 rhythm guitar/funk)...

Yeah..it is pretty awesome. I wish I could have been there! The Higher part was SO moving!!!! Larry rocks I don't care...I'm kinda glad he hooked up with Mr. Nelson.

Thanks for saying that ! I have never understood all the hatred around this dvd.
There are plenty of exceptional moments in this concert. " Je serai toujours de retour bande de mods à la con de mes deux " Moi - 2007

Love it...but, yes the editing is too quick.

I think its a pretty half-hearted performance.
The bad moments out-weigh the good ones. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I cant remember what song it is but he is trying to get the audience to sing and it is clear that most of them cant remember the words. I think it ain't half bad.
The tunes and sound quality are nice. I like his live rendition of "U Got the Look". I just don't care for his whole Latex Mary Tyler More meets gay pirate look.

I never thought it was bad at all. It ain't Musicology, but it has some cool moments.

it's too choppy, there's too much artsy fartsy editing crap going on, i don't like the sound of the band, it FEELS like the pre-recorded program it is, rather than giving the illusion of an actual concert, and i feel like my attention span has been pillaged by the time it's over.
i bought a chinese knock-off version of it for five bucks online. to be fair, i'd say it's worth at least half that price.

I also think this dvd is crap save for a few songs. Anyone who likes this dvd that much must have really low standards for Prince releases or haven't seen the good stuff from the 80's.

It's all subjective man. I have never liked concert footage (personally). I would rather be there. But as it's been stated so many times before, everyones a critic. And just an FYI even people with the best contacts in filmaking still produce crap.

Par the course for P fans. Bitch when you hear about it. Bitch when it comes out. Bitch when you get it on the first day it comes out. Watch it and bitch some more. And then secretly love it later and then claim 5 years down it's outstanding. Christian Zombie Vampires
