Here are a couple reasons why I think it's valid:

-P and Paris have a connection...Ann Nesby is from MPLS and I believe Sounds of Blackness worked with P on 'Batman' and 'Graffiti' right?

-'3121' is at about 412,000 sold as of this weeks soundscan and this will boost the record past the 500K mark easily...it will generate new life into this album for a few weeks

-Prince aint dumb...he cant deny the power of 'Idol' and it's 30 million viewers....

as a matter of fact it did . Barry Manillow, Kenny Rogers, Queen all saw big spike in sales for a couple weeks following their apprearances and oddly enough especially Manilow whos album jumped from #28 to #4 the week after the show.

Ask Daniel Powter if American Idol sells records. Id love to have a BAD DAY like that

Kenny Rogers and Stevie Wonder also saw increases in not just their current records but back catalog.

Prince will see a spike depending on what he performs (new single or classic hit). '3121' or 'Very Best Of' will see a spike...usually it's Amazon.com that sees the initial impact of the show...watch their ranking report today and tomorrow and you'll see for yourself.

I'm in the music biz and the mere performance of someone's track on any given show makes records spike significantly (especially if it was a good performance)

KT Tunstall's 'Black Horse & Cherry Tree' has reached a new level since Kat sang it few weeks back...it's Top 10 on the Digital Singles chart and the album has reached a new level on the charts...
