Sound lke something not too far away from Around The World In A Day out-take..sounds too happy for that album, but would've preferred it mroe than "Condition Of The Heart"

the music, the singing, and the lyrics? just a guess.

Say man, you know some folk wouldn't know funk if it stood up and bitch-slapped 'em in the face.

You can definitely tell the influence Sly's Fresh had on him when he recorded that.

to me this song is a litmus test for certain types of Prince fans

i don't understand what the problem is that some have with this song... it's so tight...funky

some people don't appreciate what goes into real music

Hmph. A great song/classic can be constructed "in about 5 minutes". Thought and effort can make a track sound laboured if inspiration is lacking.

It's ultra corny and way too busy. It's the worst song on Crystal Ball, including the remixes.

It's one of the only songs I don't like from that era.

i like it, but it's not great. it's good bootleg fodder - interesting, quirky, all over the place...i can see why it wound up on crystal ball and not on a "proper" album. i don't think it deserves the praise or the derision it's getting on this thread, but that's just my opinion.

It's the precursor to "We Gets Up".

It's funny to see 3 Chains mentioned because that makes me agree with JPW that "Make Your Mama Happy" is definitely one of Prince's litmus test songs. When Prince rips off Queen? it's O.K. When Prince channels Sly? it's a bad thing.

I can understand it if you don't like the song. But to mock it as crap???!!?!?
